It was the big school trip to the Life Science Centre in Newcastle yesterday and as usual I volunteered to be a parent helper. 🙋🏻♀️ It was the longest journey for the kids yet, with over an hour on the coach that played nothing on its tv screen with most of the kids not having brought anything to pass the time with so it was a lively drive! 🤪 The Centre was really good and the kids had so much fun. So many oohs and ahhs in the planetarium and excitement getting hands on with the space controls and exploring electricity and sound. I thought it fascinating getting to touch a real piece of moon! 🌚 I love being part of the school trips because I get to be with my boy. He can be pretty anxious at times and likes me to go with them for reassurance. The only downside for me is that I find these days incredibly taxing. Being “on” for the kids, keeping a constant eye on them, helping engage them all in the activities is intense (how do teachers do it?!) and so the long drive back I found myself feeling really overstimulated with a migraine erupting. It’s a fantastic place that also happens to be playing host to a brilliant Natural History Museum dinosaur exhibition at the moment. It’s well worth a visit, and just under an hour from York.
