Hadrian My sweet goofy boy who has been through so much in the last year. We started last year earning his Novice Parkour title and were just days away from our next Rally trial when my poor boy tore his cruciate ligament while playing with his sister. And that injury completely derailed our plans for the year. First was taking it easy while we waited for surgery, but then the real work began after surgery. Months of recovery and very slow rehab made only harder because it was the middle of summer. So it was pre-dawn walks before momma went to work and then late night walks before bedtime to get him the exercise he needed to rebuild his strength. But we made it through, and Hadrian was his sweet happy self through it all. While we have lost a year of Rally trials and still have a lot of work to get us back to finish his Rally Master title in the future, what matters most is that he is healthy again. Back running and playing, back bouncing around the yard with me and Saga, back to walks at the park. He even got back to pulling the cart in time to be in his first Christmas Parade. Happy Won't Look Wednesday! And starting the new year with introductions! And while he might be the Dane you see the least of, I have to start with my old man, Trajan. Trajan is 8 1/2 years old now, but still going strong. He spends most of his time relaxing on the couch but still enjoys walks at the park and playtime in the yard. And will get the zoomies with the pups. He has stable heart disease being monitored by a cardiologist, but unlike most Danes it is not DCM. He has Mitral and Tricuspid valve degeneration, a condition typically seen in much smaller dogs. Trajan is essentially both a big brother and great uncle to the pups. His sister is their grandmother. You won't see him as often, as he prefers not to join in on most of my silly ideas now, and I will never force any of them to participate. Consistent degenerative valve disease affecting multiple valves, but no measurable progression, and still no real changes consistent with DCM. Happiness is a beach day with my boy... Well, we did not get a qualifying score this morning in Rally. Simply because this silly boy decided it was time to have the zoomies. He certainly had fun and got lots of laughs along the way. Just having him happy and back in the ring was worth it. After that, we went down to the Outer Banks for the day, just the two of us. While they get their toppls in the morning with their raw, yogurt, and kibble blend; at night, they get the puzzle bowls.
