Decisions were made... Upon beginning our descent from the Summit of Mt. Lemmon, we noticed a side road that was marked to lead North to Oracle, AZ. A quick glance at the setting sun showed approximately 1.5 hours of daylight remaining. We made the decision to cut down the unmaintained road and see where it led (and deal with getting back to Tucson later) . Well, nightfall came fast and we were well into darkness before we made it the 21 miles back to asphalt. Along the way we navigated several recent rockslides, snow berms, and many a puddle. All in all, it took almost 3.5 hours to get back into Tucson. . Spent the last couple of days honing our offroad, winching, and recovery skills at The Wright Event at Ashtree Farm in Kent. A wise man from Devon once taught me about the importance of redundancy in your setup so that if some key component breaks there is a fallback to keep you going. This weekend was about making sure that the knowledge in relation to the systems built into the car and those we've added on, particularly those related to offroad and recovery situations, is shared between Mrs Ridgeback and I so that if something should happen to me while we're travelling solo in remote areas, she has the skills to get us out of trouble.
