Items given by others can be the hardest items to let go of. Not because you actually want to keep them but because of the misplaced loyalty towards the person who gave you it. It is always lovely to receive presents and gifts from others and you know the person means well. However when your home is already overrun with clutter, another item can cause stress levels to spiral. That's why it is important to have what can be an awkward chat with those closest to you about the unnecessary presents and gifts. People love the feeling they get when gifting and if someone still feels the need to buy you something for your birthday/Christmas then suggest doing something together so you are creating memories together instead of clutter. Take note yourself when buying for others! Sometimes you can feel obliged to accept items when others are clearing out because you feel it is rude to say no. However you need to remember that it wasn't your decision to buy it in the first place and so you are not being rude by declining to accept someone else's clutter. Often people try to rehome their belongings with other people to avoid feeling guilty for getting rid of it themselves. However don't let their clutter become tomorrow's headache for you. If you don't need/use/like the item then you need relieve yourself and home of it. I did not realize that I was a Holiday Weekend Warrior until this morning. We have been living a crazy schedule this holiday season. Even more so than 'normal'. And its bringing us below the wellness line - both kids are home from school today. I want to create this ideal holiday for my kids and myself. Because I love it all. I love making my own advent calendar and creating fun things for the Elf on the Shelf to do every day. I love hosting dinners with family friends and driving the neighborhood to look at the lights. I love meeting new people at vendor events as I discuss health and wellness options with shoppers and vendors alike. This past weekend was my last vendor event for the season. But because of all these things, the kids are home from school today (this is the last week of school before winter break). We have the diffusers going in all the rooms, using my DIYs (Kick the Ick Roller, Spike Roller, and Thieves Throat Spray) to support all of our immune system. I'm confident that the girls will be back at school tomorrow, participating in Spirit Week, singing in the school concert, and soaking up all the Mandarin they can before the winter break.
