DETECTIVE KNIGHT: ROGUE (2022) Starring Bruce Willis. Jimmy Jean-Louis. Beau Mirchoff. Lochlyn Munro. Michael Ecklund. Directed by Edward Drake. THE STORY L.A.P.D. Detective James Knight (Willis) is known for his unorthodox and brutal techniques in bringing criminals to justice, and when his partner (Munro) is badly injured by a group of robbers after a botched heist, Knight heads to New York to track down the criminals and exact his revenge. THE REVIEW This is definitely one of the better Bruce Willis movies released of late and is the first movie in a trilogy of films shot back to back. We all know that Willis is now retired from acting due to a neurological illness, but there are still a lot of his movies being released rapidly at the moment where he is mainly a supporting actor but here he is the main star as he is the title character, tough cop James Knight. This is a good detective action movie with Willis in another cop role but delivering some fun one liners along the way, I mean there are some large parts of the movie where Willis is not on screen, but it does make way for some good character development from the criminals point of view as we see them plan there next heist under the orders of crime boss Michael Ecklund who shares some good scenes with Willis. Jean Jean-Louis also put's in a good performance as Willis new partner, who does not agree with his unorthodox methods. I was actually very entertained by this movie and enjoyed it as it was shot well and on what looks like a decent sized budget . There are some decent action scenes throughout, and kudos must go to Willis, who does his best with the material considering what he is going through. Director Edward Drake has certainly made a decent enough action movie and has also shot the other two movies, so I look forward to seeing Detective Knight 2: Redemption which was released here 2 weeks ago. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency Score: 8/10 Plot: Todd lives a humdrum life in a humdrum job until one day a strange event leads him down a bizarre and winding path. He meets Dirk Gently, a detective with a twist, and together they…get very confused and kind of solve a mystery? Review: The first few episodes are loud and chaotic with several different strings of information all converging to make very little sense, at least until the third episode. This is where somehow they start tying those strings together to make a cohesive mystery, if cohesive can be applied to this show. Chaotic is the word I keep coming back to because it jumps all over the place, although that’s the whole point of the mysteries they’re solving. This will make sense if you watch it (kind of). Anyway, Samuel Barnett is entirely new to me and I really enjoyed him in this. He really held his own (and somewhat stole the show from) Elijah Wood, who yells in confusion a lot. I liked it enough to give the second season a go, and that was also baffling, in a good way. Trailer link in bio.
