Consigli in pillole dalla mia collezione: Frank Costello faccia d'angelo (Le Samouraï). Di Jean-Pierre Melville. Francia/Italia, 1967. Oggi vi consiglio un film che non ha bisogno di presentazioni, un film perfetto, che deve essere visto, che ha ispirato tantissimi altri cineasti in tutto il mondo e che continua a farlo ancora oggi. La figura dell'antieroe elevata al massimo in questo straordinario polar francese, un noir imprescindibile. Un protagonista che rappresenta la solitudine. Una persona che è uno strumento e che pian piano acquisirà potere su sÊ stesso e sul suo destino. Dal punto di vista tecnico e narrativo c'è da dire tantissimo e potremmo farlo per giorni, ma mi limiterò a dirvi di recuperarlo. Voglio invece soffermarmi sul discorso dell'ispirazione, perchÊ sarebbe un crimine non farlo. Recentemente mi è capitato di parlare con alcune persone di cinema che ispira altro cinema e questo film è stato ispirazione per tantissimi altri capolavori. Il cinema di Melville ha ispirato il nostro Fernando Di Leo o altro cinema europeo, ma anche tanto cinema orientale come, per esempio, quello di John Woo o di Johnnie To. à bene ricordare, però, che anche Melville a sua volta si è ispirato ai grandi noir di Hollywood degli anni '50 per realizzare i suoi polar. E cosÏ via potremmo andare a ritroso...Faccio questo discorso perchÊ a volte si pensa erroneamente al cinema come a dei compartimenti stagni, generi speficici o specifiche correnti artistiche che sono nate in un determinato paese e quindi legate a una specifica cultura. Studiando il cinema ormai da tanti anni, posso dire che il cinema non è questo e non è come lo vivo io. Dalla sua nascita il cinema è un fiume in piena. Il cinema è costante apprendimento del passato, dal quale si trae ispirazione e si crea qualcosa di nuovo, che a sua volta ispirerà e farà nascere altro, a prescindere dal luogo geografico in cui ci si trova. Il cinema è condivisione artistica e culturale. Crea ponti, non barriere o scatole in cui rinchiudere qualcosa. à un flusso in continuo scorrimento ed espansione, inarrestabile, che raccoglie e trasporta tutto ciò in cui si imbatte. The Crow is a 1994 American superhero film directed by Alex Proyas and written by David J. Schow and John Shirley, based on the 1989 comic book series by James OâBarr. It stars Brandon Lee, in his final film appearance, as Eric Draven, a musician who is resurrected from the dead to seek vengeance against the gang who murdered him and his fiancĂŠe. It probably goes without saying, but Brandon Lee is simply fantastic in the main role. For those who might be unaware, this actor was the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Similar to his father, he possessed a power and intensity that is clear as day on-screen. However, Brandon maintains his own identity and significant impact through his performances as well, and he especially demonstrates that here. He can perfectly switch from wounded to darkly humorous to vicious to achingly sincere, and the raw hurt of what heâs experienced and lost is evident in every frame. And, when his fights and violent acts occur in this movie, Lee grits his teeth and moves with a speed and power that is impressive and perfectly matches the passion that drives his quest. Regardless of what the time or circumstances are, The Crow will always soar high and majestically maintain its presence as one of my favorite films from the 90âs and one of my all-time favorite movies, in general. Dazed and Confused is a 1993 American coming-of-age comedy film written and directed by Richard Linklater. The film follows a variety of teenagers on the last day of school in Austin, Texas in 1976. The film has no single protagonist or central conflict, rather following interconnected plot threads among different social groups and characters, such as rising ninth graders undergoing hazing rituals, a football starâs refusal to sign a clean living pledge for his coach, and various characters hanging out at a pool hall, and finally at a keg party. Dazed and Confused is an American Graffiti for the 1990s, set in the 1970s. Though not quite up to the high standard of its spiritual predecessor, it does an excellent job of following an ensemble cast, who, through the course of one day, enjoy the myriad emotions and experiences that compose the teenage years. Writer/director Richard Linklater does not force the film to follow one storyline in particular, and this choice helps him avoid the conventions of the teen genre, in which the kids learn a big lesson after a series of wacky misdeeds. Indeed, the film is notable for its refreshing lack of sentiment. This isnât a movie interested in leading us through standard character arcs, and it gives us a portrait of youth that is surprisingly realistic, wiping away much of the gloss with which we often remember âthe best years of our lives,â but never going too far in the other direction by indulging in too much grittiness. I mean I didnât laugh out loud a lot, but I found it quite entertaining. The overall ridiculousness of the plot is what made it funâ something that is frequently forgotten in movies unfortunately. The soundtrack helped carry it as well, adding to the already quick pace. Interestingly, despite the haste of the story, the characters still seemed fleshed out enough to have fulfilled their respective roles and have complete arcs. This movie is a good example of a simple story told well and with some style. âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Dimitri: I thought Sugar and Spice was a pretty fun time. In terms of the film being a comedy, I didnât think it was the BEST at its job, but it still made me laugh a few times. IMBD classifies it as a dark comedy, which I spo makes sense. This also felt unique; not just your average cheerleader/teen movie. I really liked the story, though. It made sense and it shows how people can indeed go to extreme lengths for friendship or love.
