We’ve hiked this trail almost once a week since we learned the trail reopened. If you go, be sure to leave plenty of time to let your kids observe toads, dragonflies, and red-winged blackbirds from the boardwalk. We had a beautiful day exploring the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park! We drove the scenic road until we couldn’t go further. Then as we went back, we stopped for all the micro hikes and overlooks! It’s so vast and yet a fraction of the grasslands that used to be. There are green valleys thanks to the Little Missouri River.
