A good friend said “you genuinely like performing”. Yes, because I don’t see it as performing. ‘Performing’ always seemed like an artificial act to me, something outside of me, an isolated experience filled with expectations. I didn’t ever identify with it even though I had to ‘perform’. Now I know that I participate, create, recreate, build, allow and share. Witnessing sound in a communal experience energizes me and being a part of that collective moment which will not exist again alerts me to care for the sound more than ever. I happen to curate and create the experience but sound is bigger than I am.
