Weekend hike at Morialta Conservation Park. Well, we said we chased the sunset at Giant’s Cave like all pro photographers do but soooooort of didn’t quite get what we were after. New on Netflix is UNFROSTED, a comedy co-written and directed by Jerry Seinfeld (who also stars) about the breakfast wars in the 1960’s and the invention of the Pop Tart 😋 With an impressive comedy cast including Amy Schumer, Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan and Hugh Grant among many others, this should have been a laugh a minute! It’s still a fun ride, but much of it falls flat, resulting in a mediocre film that, like me, is disappointing at best 😂 Maybe UNFROSTED could’ve used some frosting after all? 🦄

Performer and teacher spotlight: Eva Cass - Our special guest artist! ✨ Eva is originally of Greek/Egyptian background. Her first belly dance lesson was with Belyssa Academy in 1990 and from that day “Danse Orientale” became her passion and remains so to this day. She is a master teacher, performer and choreographer specialising in Egyptian style oriental dance. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring and loves to inspire committed dancers and bring the best out of students. She is affectionately known as Eva the Diva by the dancers she has coached and inspired, some of which include Phynia, Tara and Emily - some of Perth’s leading artists. Eva has also attended many master classes in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore by Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Ibrahim Farrah, Tito, Kaishe, Dr Mo Geddawi, Raqia Hassan, Momo Kadous, Randa Kamal, Aisha Ali, Suraya Hilal, Claire Naffah, Tereska, Liza El Laziza, Beata and Horacio Cifuentes, Shareen el Safi, Kazafy, Leila Hadad, Mahmoud Reda, Yasmina, Nour, Jillina and many more. Eva and her colleague Ayesha started their own belly dance studio called Sheik to Sheik in Perth in 2000 which ran for 7 years. They brought out guest artists like Hossam and Serena Ramzy, Shareen el Safi and Claire Naffah. Eva was a part of WAMED when it first started. In the 1990’s to mid 2000’s, Eva started the Alexandria by Night shows at several of the Greek Clubs in Perth along with Alex Zamarin - a tabla and bouzouki player who was also a DJ. They were fabulous dinner dance shows where other belly dance schools were invited to participate and perform which in turn helped network the Perth bellydance community. Eva has conducted workshops in Australia, Singapore and Greece. In 2004, 2014 and 2017 Eva performed in Greece for the Duke of Naxos. In 2005, Eva was privileged to do an impromptu performance of Faddah for Hossam Ramzy’s family in Cairo. These two performances are among her most valuable memories spanning her long dance career. Heads up, Adelaide folk — I'm hosting a free food forest gardening workshop this month, in person! 🙌 I'll be covering everything you need to know to make your own mini edible jungle, even if you live in the city. You'll learn the seven layers of a traditional food forest and how to pare them back to be suitable for smaller spaces. And I'll give you a behind-the-scenes look at my own mini urban food forest, including how I prepared my soil, which plants I selected, how I integrated my chickens, what's working really well and what I'd do differently next time. Plus, we'll look at how edible weeds can be friend rather than foe in this system, providing a simple way to supplement your diet and save money — all from nutritious plants that pop up of their own accord. Tickets are totally free thanks to the crew at Grow, Grow, Grow Your Own (a subgroup of Sustainable Communities SA) who've secured @cityofunley funding to run regular food gardening workshops.
