After the German trip, it’s time for Italy and the first stop was La Bioca in Barolo. I have always enjoyed wines from this area but, with this visit, I felt in love with the region itself. The landscape is stunningly beautiful and the food super delicious! We met with Igor and Olga from La Bioca on a cloudy morning but luckily we had good sunshine during our tour through the vineyards. We made several stops including at the famous cru Ravera and Bussia. Nevertheless the vineyard that impressed me most was the San Sebastiano, a vineyard in Monforte d’Alba which lies just outside the territory of Barolo DOCG. San Sebastiano is a single vineyard on a beautiful slope and soil rich with limestone perfect for the Nebbiolo grape. Before global warming, the area used to be too cold to produce good enough grapes so it was excluded from the Barolo classification. Nowadays, as you may all felt, the earth is getting much warmer and San Sebastiano’s grapes have improved greatly (I will write more about the wines in our next post). The trend about warm sites being too warm and cool sites getting better is becoming clearer to us after our meeting with many winemakers this year especially in Italy where the climate is generally warmer than Germany and France. So guys. Global Warming is real serious and we have to do our part if we want to keep drinking good wines! Chateau Lynch-Moussas one of the 61 Grand Cru Classe 1855 is a historic estate purchased by Lynch family and formerly located on 3 large plateaux; Madras, Moussas and Bages. In the 19th century the Estate was divided into two, Lynch-Bages and Lynch-Moussas. The Casteja family acquired Chateau Lynch-Moussas in the early 20th Century. Emile Casteja inherited the estate as well as its management in the 1970s and immediately set about enhancing its development. His son, Philippe Casteja took over in 2001 (the vintage yr of the bottle we tried) and the year 2001 was also celebrated with the first creation of their second wine, Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas. 今日もガメイだった。 営業が忙しかった夜、そのまま寝てもいいのだが、少し飲みたい気分、こんな時に選ぶワインが、ガメイ、優しい味わいに癒しを求めているのかも。 ムーラン・ナ・ヴァン・ヴィエイユ・ヴィーニュ21年 ルイ・ボワイヨ ブルゴーニュの高騰を受けて南のブルゴーニュが注目されている。 ボージョレーをブルゴーニュに入れるかは議論が分かれるかもしれない。 そんなボージョレーに、参戦するコート・ドールの生産者が増えている。 ルイ・ボワイヨの息子、クレマン・ボワイヨは、母はシャンボールミュジニーのギスレーヌ・バルト、父はルイ・ボワイヨのいい家系にいる、ボルドーのヴィユー・シャトー・セルタンや、コント・ド・ヴォギュエ、ランブレーなど一流生産者で修行して、今は、ルイ・ボワイヨのボージョレーを見ている。 花崗岩質土壌の樹齢75年のガメイをセミマセラシオン・カルボニックで造られている。 外観はやや濃いルビー色、エッジに紫の若さが感じられる、粘性も古木からのエキスに溢れてゆったりとした脚まわり。 香りは、フレッシュな赤いフルーツからやや黒系果実まで、砂糖漬けのブルーベリーやラズベリー、マラスキーノチェリーも感じられる、スミレの花のような香りから、ややスパイスのタッチがあって、土やグラファイトのような感じは、花崗岩のテロワールのように感じられる。 味わいは、ミディアムボディな感じで、洗練されたシルキーなタンニンと赤いフルーツを噛んだような生き生きとした酸味のバランスが良く、優しい旨みが感じて、最後の余韻まで心地良い味わいにつながっている。ピノ・ノワールを飲んでいる感覚で楽しめるアイテムで、少し熟成しても楽しめるポテンシャルは持っていそうだ。 ヌーボーのイメージは捨てて、真面目に向き合っていくと、もっと発見がありそうなワインだと思えますね。 #ワイン #ワイン好き #ガメイ #ボージョレー #ムーランナヴァン #ルイボワイヨ #ブルゴーニュ #ワインスタグラム #ワインテイスティング #ワインラバー #wine #winelover #winetasting #winestagram #gamay #beaujolais #moulinavent #louisboillot

C’est assez rigolo de remettre la main sur un vieux millésime de champagne, ici un demi-sec 1989 de la maison A.R. Lenoble. J’ai un goût mesuré pour le champagne demi-sec (32 à 50 g/l de sucre au dégorgement). Mais là, il avait mangé l’essentiel de son sucre, belle couleur vieil or bien dense, arômes tertiaires marqués, pétillance très fine, loin de l’effervescence champenoise. Bref, une expérience. From one of the oldest wine regions in France. VINEYARD NOTES We have selected vineyards in the area of Carcassonne and the Minervois based on grape flavour and yield. WINEMAKING NOTES The grapes were cold macerated then pressed, cold settled before fermentation. 30% of the Chardonnay was fermented in French and American oak barrels, and remained on lees in barrel, with some stirring, for six months. TASTING NOTES Chardonnays come in many styles, from light and minerally to rich, buttery and oaky. We wanted to make a Chardonnay that was satisfying, yet fresh, and with a sufficiently interesting flavour to capture the imagination. From the outset, it was crucial that it would be a great accompaniment to food. This is a fresh, pine-appley wine, with a subtle hint of oak and a touch of mango and ginger FOOD STYLE Great by itself or to accompanyall fish and white meat dishes. 📍Gli orange wines nascono insieme al vino stesso, in Georgia, dove ancora si conserva la tradizionale vinificazione nei kvevri (anfore di terracotta). Il recente ritorno in auge dei vini arancioni si deve peró, soprattutto, alla scuola friulana-slovena. 🎨 Il colore di un vino deriva dal contatto con le bucce. In questo caso, i grappoli a bacca bianca vanno incontro ad una pigiatura e ad una fase di macerazione durante la quale rilasciano tannini e antociani, polifenoli rispettivamente responsabili di astringenza e colorazione. 🔝 In degustazione 4 vini dai caratteri differenti: * Radikon - collio DOC Bianco Oslavje 2000. Complesso, strutturato e profumo inebriante. Intelligentemente orange, senza eccessi ma costruito con conoscenza e pragmatismo. Miele, spezie, agrumi, frutta matura. * Damijan Podversic - Venezia Giulia IGT Malvasia istriana 2008. Spinto, imperioso, senza troppi compromessi. Non va per il sottile e prende la scena. Spezie, albicocca matura. * La Castellada - Collio DOC Ribolla Gialla 1999. Il meno spinto dei 4, ben bilanciato si dimostra piacevole e di buona beva. Forse il meno avanguardista, ma una bellissima scoperta. Alle note di frutta esotica si accosta una buona freschezza. * Frank Cornelissen - Vino bianco Munjebel 9 Vigne Alte 2012. Pianta sull’Etna, fai crescere così come viene, raccogli, fai macerare, imbottiglia e sarà pronto. Una mina vagante, estremista. Acidità spinta, struttura prepotente, vulcanico. La mineralità spinge insieme alle erbe aromatiche e all’acidità agrumata, talmente spinto da sembrare leggermente frizzantino sul palato.
