Please see my previous post/reel for my drawing/painting process from a literary blank canvas:)) I used many Gigi photos as references and inspiration (I painted her in watercolours and markers before). Although the main photo reference is beautiful, I had to fit the portrait into the size of the Icons collection, so you might notice that I had to modify some things, including the hand position. The main photo reference was taken at least 7 years ago, so I painted Gigi slightly older than she was on this photo, anyway I love the pose and the expression of her eyes. It was quite a challenge to capture the complexity of his personality and facial expression. I liked the pose of the photo reference, but I had to fix the proportional distortion (mainly facial foreshortening) in the main photo reference. I extensively studied his face in many movies and photos, read his biography, and watched his interviews. I believe I tackled the task:)) What is your opinion? Although Elvis is known for his flamboyant clothes and iconic costumes, but he could wear anything (or nothing:) and be as appealing and interesting. The Greatest Artist Ever!!! I’ve drawn this large drawing freehand couple of decades ago from a photo I’d seen on a videotape/cassette. This was the pre-Internet era, so I had to stop/pause the documentary and every 5minutes the video would restart:)) and I had to do it again. The photo resolution wasn’t good, but I liked the foreshortened pose so I used my imagination and memory of Elvis’ face; somehow I managed to draw it.
