Visite culturelle de la Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg et de l'horloge astronomique. Hier, nos étudiants ont visité la célèbre Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg qui fut fondée en 1015 sur les vestiges d’une précédente cathédrale. Notre-Dame de Strasbourg est une cathédrale catholique qui a été élevée à partir de 1220 par la ville libre de Strasbourg, riche république marchande et financière, dans le style gothique. Elle est depuis 1988 le siège d’un archidiocèse propre. C’est aujourd’hui la deuxième cathédrale la plus visitée de France, après Notre-Dame de Paris, soit huit millions et demi de touristes par an. Haute de 142,11 mètres, elle a été pendant une longue période l’édifice le plus élevé du monde. Pratiquement achevée en 1365, elle a la particularité d’avoir vu l’espace entre ses deux tours comblé en 1388 et se reconnait à son clocher unique, surmonté d’une flèche qui lui a été ajoutée en 1439. L'horloge astronomique (dont le mécanisme actuel date de 1842) est un chef d'œuvre de la Renaissance qui fut le résultat d'une collaboration entre horlogers, artistes, sculpteurs, peintres, mathématiciens et techniciens et créateurs d'automates qui travaillèrent de concert. Gustave Doré (1832, Strasbourg - 1883, Paris) est l’un des principaux contributeurs à l’édition illustrée du XIXe siècle, dont il a profondément renouvelé les genres et les pratiques. « Figures of the Cathedral Our Lady of Strasbourg” is a publication that came out of a ten-month photographic examination conducted by Laurent Weyl on the iconic semi Romanesque Gothic landmark. With texts from Guillaume Jan in French, German and English the book tells the story of the people that constantly work to maintain this what Goethe named a “sublimely towering, wide-spreading tree of God” build in various temporalities by countless hands. The cover is referencing the typical reddish-brown sandstone from the Vosges mountains that was used to erected the Cathedral. Spotting some Medieval Proto-Renesaince inscriptions in the images of Weyl we opted to use the typeface Albertus that was named after the medieval philosopher and thinker Albertus Magnus. It was an uncanny fact that we learned later that the iconography of the tympanum and archivolts of the late 13th-century portal of Strasbourg Cathedral was inspired by Albert’s writings. Головний кафедральний собор столиці Ельзасу – Нотр’Дам де Страсбург. Він дуже гарний. Але чомусь несиметричний – права вежа залишилась недобудованою. Моя цікавість заставила мене пошукати інформацію про це. Деякі джерела пишуть, що причина цього дуже банальна – на завершальному етапі будівництва просто не вистачило грошей. Будували Собор дуже довго, почавши в 11 сторіччі. Деякі джерела кажуть, що боялися обвалення усієї конструкції. Піднявшись на дах Собору, можна там на екрані побачити відео будівництва Собору. На одному з моїх фото є 2 великі колеса, які використовували при будівництві вежі - по них ходили люди, тим самим приводячи їх у рух. Верхівка шпилю добудованої вежі у 19 сторіччі фіксувала першість страсбурзького Нотр’Даму з-поміж усіх католицьких храмів за критерієм висоти. Як і передбачає готичний стиль, вceрeдинi coбoру дocить тeмнo, але затишно. Привертає увагу великий астрономічний годинник, який з точністю моделює рух планет сонячної системи та містить шестерню, яка робить повний оберт за більше ніж 25 тисяч років і відмірює такий специфічний астрономічний період, як час прецесії земної осі. Цікаво, якщо роками спостерігати за цією шестернею, не буде помітно щонайменшого руху, а насправді вона обертається рівномірно і точно. Strasbourg Part Deux: Notre-Dame de Strasbourg Cathedral is breathtaking with its intricate detailed stone work, towering presence, and 142m high spire. Work began on the cathedral around 1015 (Roman) and finished in the gothic style with the spire in 1439. It’s the sixth tallest church in the world. I took so many photos and videos of the cathedral, but nothing does it justice or captures what it feels like to look right up at it (got a little dizzy). We did not go inside on this visit, not enough time, but I’m satisfied with just admiring this incredible feat of medieval gothic architecture from the outside. We enjoyed some flammenkeuche and beer afterward, of course.
