..::F O R G I V E::.. . Although I probably wouldn’t have admitted it, I used to really struggle with forgiveness. Even when I would consciously make the decision to forgive, I would still find myself remembering wrongdoings and acting accordingly—which isn’t forgiveness at all. . I think the struggle was that I hadn’t yet learned how to forgive myself. . I used to act only in the moment, not thinking of the consequences, and as a result, I hurt people along the way. And those times when I’d hurt someone would haunt me like nothing else. I’d replay the past in my mind and sit in my own guilt and shame, unable to forgive. And while I didn’t realize it at the time, this translated to my interactions with others; my inability to forgive myself was mirrored onto the outside world. . I would preach that the past was the past and that people are constantly growing, learning and changing (which I believed then, and still do), but the reality was that I was pushing down those grudges and attempting to do the forgetting without the forgiving first. . When you’re hurt, the immediate reaction is often to say: “you did this to me.” But what is it that you’re feeling inside; what’s triggered? Take away the external, the situation, the people involved—what do you feel? Why do you feel it? When have you felt this way before? Keep digging deeper until you find that root feeling. What about it scares you? Alternatively, what aspect of yourself was capable of hurting someone else? What lead you to that point? . Once you’re there, and after you’ve taken the time to fully process those feelings, give yourself the opportunity to forgive. . A mantra that I like is: “I’m sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.” Try saying this aloud, to yourself, until it really sinks in. . To me, forgiveness is an act of both compassion and release. We are in such an interesting, thought provoking time, with an unexpected break from life forced on us.... like nearly every working artist, I’m faced with the overwhelming reality of figuring out how to keep working and keep the income flowing.... but also feeling a strong urge to give to the community. I don’t consider myself to be in a “me first” mindset 100% of the time, but more than ever I feel a “community first” mindset. . . Are you feeling the urge to give back to your community? What are you doing to give in this time? I’m seeing more online classes offered, dancers offering free training videos/live-stream sessions, and many resources for learning being offered at a discounted rate, or for free. . . . I’m currently switching over to live-streaming my classes (huge thanks to VMAC for making that possible ❤️) figuring out the easiest way to keep teaching to my student troupe, offering more of my time to my current students by sending them resources, answering any questions they have, sending training videos, reviewing their practice videos, etc... and, I’m feeling compelled to share more of my dance journey with you all, since that’s the way we’re going to be connected for a while 🤪 here’s a memory from @oregoncountryfair dancing with and for some of my favorite people. ❤️ more photos, videos, and stories to come....

Crazy to think we’re down to the last few weeks of this decade..... been doing some reflecting on what I’ve accomplished this past year & the past ten years. I danced more than I ever have in 2019, doing shows every weekend.... but, these shows are at restaurants, clubs, and hookah lounges. The only major stage show I did (for bellydance) was at @oregoncountryfair which is why most of my performance videos this year have been from fair. I remember this particular set - nearly anywhere I looked in the audience, I saw a familiar face: my family, some friends, fellow dancers, and happy fair goers. A participat și la edițiile noastre anterioare „O Cană de Fericire”, a câștigat locul 1 la concursul francofon „Chants, sons sur scène” (etapa județeană și națională, în 2018) și a participat atât la etapa locală, cât și la cea națională a concursului Interact, „Talent Show”! * Lavinia Sălăjan - Elevă la Colegiul Național „Mihai Eminescu”, face muzică de 9 ani și pune suflet în tot ceea ce face, străduindu-se să dea tot ce e mai bun. Lavinia a avut reprezentații la mai multe evenimente, precum „Art for puppy eyes”, Festivalul „Muzritm” (Vatra Dornei), Concursul de folk „Octavian Bud”, Tabăra Muzicală din Târgu Mureș, Zilele Orașului Satu Mare și multe altele. * Gabriela Mete - Are 30 de ani, lucrează în învățământ de 8 ani, iubește muzica, animalele și copiii!
