I had this idea in my head for so long because Hrothgar sleeps in so many play-by-posts (chill text sessions/open rp/short stories??) and I found it funny. So here is some quick art before I leave town! (And bonus young Gavrill vs his child Hrodwyn) #helvetia_ltd I barely edited the scan besides cleanup: the colours were already great as they were. I'm so glad the brush pen I used resulted in that galaxy-like texture! The composition took quite a while to plan out too, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Each one of the drawings is based off a story/pbp I wrote. Starting top left and going clockwise, with the middle being last: - Before the first operation, Gavrill (Hrothgar's real name) falls asleep on the couch to My Little Pony on the TV - Gavrill tries staying up to wait for his eldest, Hrodwyn, to return home. He ends up sleeping on the table at 2am - Sleeping on the flight to the second operation in Australia - uhh - In the current second operation, the party got stranded in the middle of the desert. Gavrill made a plan to travel at night and sleep in the day - After the first operation, Gavrill exchanges terse texts with his children and realise life would've been easier for everyone if he just stayed in prison (he was framed and was stuck there for a decade until Helvetia hired him out) - On his first night back from prison, he sleeps in his children's room on the floor between their beds. It's mermay, folks! The merman is my OC, Trouble, who regularly earns his name, particularly when he is getting his best (and only) friend Wend (@popjabdolls OC) into shenanigans. Trouble is pretty useless on land in his siren form and he enjoys being carried around because he likes the attention. Her eyes dart from side to side as if checking for witnesses. „Careful. They might find us.“ „Let them, love.“ V‘s gaze returns to El‘s, eyes widening. „Let them see what you are to me. And once we‘re back in Castead, we will let your king know that I am intent on moving the rings Seraph gave us from our indexes to our ring fingers. Nobody needs to know that we are his chosen. But our connection…“ V‘s cheeks turn a deeper shade of grey. But she is unable to fight the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. „I‘ve thought about it for quite some time,“ El continues. „I don’t want to hide us away from the people closes to us anymore.“ „I love you, El.“ That is all V needs to say. With a smile that could outshine the stars, she leans down, welcoming El‘s lips on hers, disregarding all thoughts of secrecy. El‘s outfit is inspired by a flower fountain. She is The Witch of the Water, after all. The flowers floating above are forget me nots. They’re V‘s favourite because they represent true love, devotion and remembrance of those who have passed. They remind her of her late mother — and now El. The other ones are white pixies. They were the first flowers El was allowed to pick as inspiration for a sermon dress. They symbolise resilience and adaptability — two traits El needs reminding of to improve a church rotten to its core. They also attract pollinators, which leads us to V‘s outfit. It‘s based on El‘s favourite pollinators: flying fox bats. Like V, flying foxes are massive but actually just sky puppies. (⚠️ Also: content warning for… vampire eating habits) Valentine isn’t really one to wear unpractical, fancy clothes, so for the theme of the ball he chose a formal, classy black suit with red, floral decorations, inspired by the Rosae Vulturis (last slide!), a very important flower in the story of Nightfall. The flower allows vampires to eat normal food, walk in sunlight, but also weakens them - it basically makes them more human. Every vampire is required to take the essence of this flower (either through drinks, food or even Rosae chewing gum and toothpaste) so that they don’t need to feed on humans. This controversial law has divided the vampires. The jewelry he chose is also very minimal: a few rings and a pin displaying the flower. The colors are inspired by the only colors Val willingly wears, but also by the color of the flower. Don’t tell anyone I told you this secret, but Valentine is only wearing this outfit inspired by the flower as an act - he doesn’t like the effects the flower has on vampires and he thinks by wearing it no one will think he is actually a bad guy and follows all the rules.
