SWF *Flo-Motion* is my East Coast ride and has proven herself to be Rock Solid on her maiden voyage from Chicago to Charlotte (with 14 days in Atlanta) all she NEEDS is a power steering line (seeping) less floaty shocks (that wiggle above 90mph gets your attention) an alignment and some tinted windows. Okay, the tinted windows is a 'want' not a 'need', but still... The Bubble Wagons were made from 1991 till 1996, to have an early and late version to compare, it's easy to see why the 95/96 models are sought after. The Port Injection is nearly seamless compared to the earlier Thottle Body cars, not to mention the tune ability of the new for 1996 OBD2 vs the 1992 OBD1 system. Flo-Motion is easy to drive, be it picking up my grandson from school or slicing through traffic at speed with an agility that surprises smaller and more powerful cars. These will end up on a 355 with a 219/227 Lunati cam that'll be happy to spin to 6300rpm all day. Just picked up this little gem. Lt1 v8 car, automatic. Haven't dove into yet, but from what I can see it has headers, full exhaust with flowmasters, billet throttle body, k&n intake(with cheap ebay throttle connection that I already ordered replacement parts for), fiberglass hood, SS camaro wheels, transmission looks brand new, BMR strut tower brace and torque arm. I need to diagnose a misfire code, and clean her up a bit. Well, the wire on plug seven wasn’t helping things. New plug wire set installed, and I got to use my new oscilloscope to check the signal from the OptiSpark. I’m not an expert, but it looks like everything is fine with it. Might be the ignition control module. Feels like I am getting very close to a diagnosis, but things have gone sideways before. Starter seems to be turning the motor much easier today, with some help from jumper cables. You want to know a guaranteed way for an Optispark to not work? Not having the harness. Yeah, I don’t know either. Thankfully it is a cheap, easy, and quick fix. I would imagine there will be additional issues to chase, including the possibility that the Opti itself is bad. But can’t get there from here. For a while, I have had a rough Idle and thought it was my fault because of the tune. Nope, the last few rides have been rough. Idling like junk and not feeling right off idle but running fine in the higher RPM range. Finally hooked up the live feed to see I have a bunch of random misfires. It's time for the optispark tune kit. I'm going to switch to 24X someday just isn't in the budget right now. For now, the car is running better and cooler than it ever has. Got the midplate off, LS1 input in, rotating assembly is in, pushrods are on order along with the #optispark delete, front cover on, rear cover on pan almost on, etc. It’s a weekend or two short of going in the truck for fab on the trans crossmember and exhaust. Installed @proformparts 1.6 Roller rockers, @gm_performance_ LT4 springs using @bluegrassperformance spring compressor, clearanced the OEM magnesium valve covers, removed and replaced the leaking water pump with a 94+ style @gates.hoses water pump and replaced all the coolant system hoses, full system flush (it was nasty with hidden chunks of dexcool), upgraded to a new vented @petrisenterprises Optispark, new plug wires, @officialngksparkplugs, ported the intake throttle openings, resealed everything with some fresh @felprogaskets and @permatexusa Right Stuff. Anybody ever heard of a GM Optispark? Your car won’t #start without it. It’s an optically-triggered #ignition distributor. On the 1995 Chevy Corvette #LT1 it came off of, there was power steering fluid leaking on it. Due to its location on the front of the engine, it is susceptible to #moisture. A #leak from a water pump, an #undercarriage car wash, or washing it straight up with a sprayer or hose can cause it to #fail. It runs like a distributor/rotor/cap combo using an optical laser to accurately time the spark to each cylinder. It is not always the opti spark! Although people love to jump to that conclusion. I had developed a high rpm miss 5k and higher found this on cylinder #4 replaced the wires cleaned up the plugs and gapped them to the correct .050 and now it pulls with no issue. #ltx #optispark
