We could have been better prepared, and if we do it one more time, we also know what we are going to do. The Joker is registered for DH ORC worlds! With a mix of emotions from severe intimidation to pure excitement we have decided to register for the DH ORC worlds as it comes to our home, Oslo, this summer. Come June, we know we would regret it if we didn’t do it and, after all, how many chances will we ever get to participate in an event like this. A lot of planning and preparation is already underway. First on the agenda is to get the ORCI certificate in place. Coordinated around that the boat goes in the water in about one week. Last week in review… With the Joker now safely delivered at the yard for the winter, and the to-do list handed in, this past week focused on sail upgrades and season planning for 2024. It is time for the last “old” sail to be replaced this winter. Our A2 from 2006 will be retired and we have now more or less finished the design requirements for our new A2. Hopefully we will be ready to put in the order this week. As far as season planning goes it is hard not to consider the ORC DH Worlds as it will be right here in our back yard (fjord?)🫣🙄😜. Bravas achieved a double victory, managing to surpass the entire J70 fleet and leading the Women's Cup. 🏆 Noticia, second to cross the finish line, was the first in the J70 monotype category. The wind didn't cooperate in the ORC races. After staggered starts for the first race of the ORC groups, the wind dramatically dropped, and the Race Committee decided to stop the race. The ORC DH, after completing the Barcelona-Palamos-Barcelona course and applying the compensation, the boat IA Iorana wins the race, while Duende 50 has been the first in real time. Tillbaka på landbacken efter några fantastiska dygn på havet. I söndags kl 11.10 startade @solidsport_sverige -båten i centrala Stockholm i det första världsmästerskapet för havskappsegling där man seglar på två. Tisdag kväll 20:37:59 gick vi i mål efter ett helt galet sista dygn där vi seglade från Hoburgen på södra udden av Gotland till målgången i Sandhamn på mindre än 24 timmar och nådde en topphastighet på 18,4 knop. Hur gick det då i själva racet? Vi kom på en tionde plats totalt där såväl proffs som amatörer är inräknade och på tredje plats🥉i amatörklassen. Yesterday was the wrap for the ORC Doublehanded World Championship and Gotland Runt. What an experience - a fabulous downwind start from Stockholm through archipelago to Sandhamn, a 150nm loooong beat to Hoburg and speedy downwind back. Thetis sailed a solid race with good pace. A few unforced errors in the fresh winds and a bit too long sailed distance (could have sailed closer to coast) cost time, but all in all happy with the result, 16th in our class with lots of takeaways. Nu har vi har gått i mål, sovit lite, är nöjda med vår segling, hade bra fart genom hela racet. De små problem vi hade i skärgården tog inte lång tid att lösa. Alla segelbyten efteråt på havet funkade bra. Vi ”surfade” hem på maxfarter 11-12 knop. Vi är inte nöja med resultatet men kunde inte gjort något annorlunda.
