I’ve wanted to visit @peggy_porschen_cakes for years and finally went this week! 💕🌸🎂 There’s nothing better than an Extremely Pink cake shop in my humble opinion, and the food did not disappoint. I had a delicious green omelette, which unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of because I wolfed it too fast. But trust me, green omelettes are the new yellow omelettes and we should all be adding spinach to them. This was followed by the best gluten free cupcake Of Life which was full of explodey, melty raspberry filling. It was also the most expensive cupcake of life at £10, but it was totally worth it and I would do it all again tomorrow. And probably the next day. I may have co-ordinated my outfit to go with the shop, but it’s nothing that 1,769,000 other Instagrammers haven’t done. I went to the Belgravia shop, but they have another one in Chelsea so that’s on the list for next time! Do you think they should open a Peggy Porschen Cakes in every city? Gluten free London! 🇬🇧🧁💕 I’d heard wonderful things about @peggyporschenofficial and was really excited to go for afternoon tea with friends to check it out! I was so pleased to find that they offer a gluten free (although they call it ‘gluten-friendly’) afternoon tea with sandwiches, scones and sweet treats. I got five different varieties of little finger sandwiches, a plain scone and a fruit scone, a mini strawberry rhubarb pavlova and a raspberry chocolate drip cupcake. Everything was beautifully presented and the staff were really excellent but I found the sandwiches a bit dry and the scones quite crunchy on the outside. The cakes were delicious and so pretty, which are Peggy’s signature items. Overall, a lovely afternoon with friends but a shame I couldn’t enjoy the ‘normal’ menu. Look what is across the street from my London (Lime Tree) Hotel in the first 2 posts. But instead I took my hotel’s recommendation and went to Jones Family Kitchen twice! It really has more sophistication than the name implies! One really needs a Glossery of American translated words. I had to ask several times what something on the menu was actually. Like ‘stinking pudding’ and ‘56 day’ chicken. The latter is comparable to our term, ‘free range’ chicken,. That is they treat the chickens more humanely and don’t kill them until 56 days after born. On our last day in London we had to check out at 11am but our flight back home was scheduled for 8pm so we got rid of our suitcases and went for one last walk. It was lunchtime and we decided to have Italian food. While my brother got a huge pizza I got 5 ravioli noodles in tons of sauce which of course didn't satisfy me and I was still hungry and grumpy on the hunt for something else to eat. And as I always have some space in my dessert stomach we went to Peggy Porschen and even got a table inside without an reservation which isn't easy. I then ordered a Pumpkin spice latte and a massive cupcake. Inside the store you could buy really cute autumn-themed cookies and Peggy Porschen's famous baking book "A year in cake"- of course I got it. Now equipped with this book I want to slowly come back to baking as I had to quit my baking adventures after I lost my ability to smell and taste things due to my C. infection last year.
