First time for everything....in my case...I got "the knock".... ...but it's not as bad as getting the knock in the middle of the night....which this (very handsome) By-Law Officer COULD have done as he's seen me parked-up a few nights in a row in the same spot. He explained that they allow a night or two for people just passing through the area, but after that it's $150 fine. He was really nice about it. I explained that I'm just waiting on an oil change (which is happening Friday early morning but I'm going there the day before to find a boondocking spot nearby), so I just need to boondock in THIS area tonight, tomorrow night and Wednesday night....he said that's totally fine, and also recommended another area not far from here, so we'll mosey on over there later today. Tips voor een tweede dag in Marrakech: ● Geniet van een Marrokaans ontbijt in je riad voor je op pad gaat. ● Wandel of neem een taxi naar Palais Bahia. Alles in de medina kan je aanlopen, maar om energie te besparen nemen wij een taxi naar het paleis. ● Trek een ochtend uit om het paleis op je gemak te bezoeken. Het is vrij druk, je moet soms even wachten voor je mooie foto's kan maken. Side note: er zijn stiekem toch best wat kleine opstapjes en trappetjes, met ouderen toch wel vermoeiend en niet rolstoelvriendelijk. ● Ga na het bezoek aan het paleis lekker lunchen in één van de straatjes in de buurt om uit te rusten en wellicht een powernapje te doen. ● Wandel via de straatjes in de medina naar het bekende Djemaa el Fna plein, waar je een versgeperst fruitsapje kan halen bij één van de vele stalletjes die je naar binnen praten met een gratis drankje. ● Neem plaats op één van de terrasjes met een kopje munt thee en kijk op je gemak rond naar de handelaren en verschillende mensen die langslopen. ● Verplaats voor de zonsondergang naar één van de dakterrassen voor een geweldig uitzicht over het plein. Omdat wij dit vorige keer gedaan hebben en de trappen naar het dakterras niet meer kunnen nemen, slaan we dit over. ● Het Djemaa el Fna plein komt na zonsondergang tot leven. De kraampjes met eten en drinken worden druk bezocht, mensen staan met aapjes, slangen en henna verf om toeristen te vermaken en versieren. ● Ga aan het eind van de dag lekker eten bij @lejardinmarrakech (van te voren reserveren is aan te raden). Dit restaurant is één grote binnentuin, waar je op de begane grond, maar ook rondom op verschillende verdiepingen kan eten. Het is wat duurder dan gemiddeld, maar de locatie is erg tof! Voor ons is het restaurant op twee minuten lopen van de riad.
