TRAVEL TIPS: Traveling with kids can be incredibly difficult! Here are some of my tips to help for a road trip. For reference our kiddos are 3.5 and 1.5 Many say to travel at night, however, we have found this not to be true for our kiddos. Instead we keep them entertained. Portable travel and game tables are amazing! Keeps them drop dropping their toys/tablets/activities! Pack easy to clean snacks for the car ride. We mostly use gold fish! We also use the Munchkin Snack Catcher cups. Have a change of clothes handy. We found out the hard way…. Tornado sirens going off and the suitcase of course was buried. If you are staying at an Air b&b look at the layout in advance. Most are not “toddler proofed” so a simple baby gate would be helpful! Oh Japan 🇯🇵. I have been dreaming about coming for years and for some reasons it didn’t happen despite travelling 45+ countries 😅 Elias and I spent our first few days in Tokyo and enjoyed visiting Shibuya, Shinjuku, the Meiji temple and the area around Ginza. Convenience stores have been a life saver, due to being pressed for time or lack of safe options for Elias (food allergies). We have mainly bought food from Family Mart so far and it was pretty good honestly. I still want to go to a few restaurants. Also eating and walking is a no no here. So if you’re used to quick grab and go to maximise your time you’ll have to learn to take it slow and enjoy your food. We stayed at @mimaruhotels Ginza East for the first part of the trip and had a lovely stay. The room was very spacious as you saw in the stories and can easily fit 4 people. Loved the location and we found it quite central. The room we had had a projector which Elias enjoyed. #mimaruhotels ✨ If I had one tip for you, if you have an iPhone, it would be to use your wallet to set up Suica. Everyone uses IC cards (smart cards) here to pay for most things, and there’s still a shortage of SIM cards so if you can go digital it will make things easier. Having a bit of cash is a must as well. ✨ Also most transports for Elias, who’s 5, have been free… a nice surprise. There will be a little delay in me posting on Instagram as I have been feeling unwell. To start with our basic equipment - not very fancy but for us just (almost) perfekt: our Coleman Vespucci tent, we are travelling with. It is just spacious enough to comfortably accommodate us all. We have 2 separate inner tents, because the little ones still sleep beside us. However, there is the option to separate the bigger one into two 2-person inner tents, which is the plan for the near future 😃 The setup is quick and it stayed completely dry through several heavy storms and rain. At the same time IT is still small enough to find a place to set up almost anywhere. The only thing we really miss is some kind of organizer or at least some latches to attach hooks or hang anything up. 10 moments from our trip to Montana! 1. The mandatory picture at the welcome sign when entering a new province for the first time! 2. My attempt at an artsy picture because the steps were cool 😆 3. Us enjoying the outdoor hot tub at @ferniestanfordresort and now I want to enjoy more outdoor hot tubs in the mountains! 4. The kids going down the awesome water slide at the hotel. All they did was go down the slide lol. 5. The amazing views of the mountains and the Elk River in Fernie, BC just outside the hotel. 6. Another mandatory picture when visiting a new state (it was so cold and windy lol) 7. We pulled over down a side road to try and capture the mountains in Montana (it was very windy there too lol) 8. The only wildlife we saw after going down a road with a sign that said “wildlife viewing area”… a wild turkey 🤣 we were more excited than we should have been for a wild turkey lol. 9. The World’s Largest Tandem Axel Dump Truck, the Terex Titan, in Sparwood, BC. It was used in Mining and it was HUGE!! 10. And last, it might be hard to tell, but that’s a bunch of Elk! Only a small glimpse of all the Elk on the hill when we were driving home. We continued to see more and more as we looked closer lol, I would say there was at least 50! 📍 St Lawerence - What a beautiful small town community. The locals of St Lawerence welcomed us with open arms, inviting the kids and us to their community weekend. We got to make plastic fish, wire birds, planting of new plants around the wetlands among other creative activities to represent the wildlife of St Lawerence preparing for the Wetlands Festival that is accruing in early June this year. The local state school, invited us to join the students at the school in their science day teaching the kids about native trees, plants, fruits and wildlife of Australia. We ate lots of yummy food made by the locals and funded by the Isaac Council. We had such a beautiful time with the people of St Lawerence. Much of downtown Ellicott CIty is being rebuilt after nearly back-to-back floods in 2016 and 2018. The reality of travelling with an ill SEN child… I have never been the most consistent person in terms of posting but I wasn’t planning on hyping up our trip to Disneyland Paris last September and then just disappearing for months… The sad fact is Liliana was very ill at the time so when she wasn’t being sick or sleeping she was very much withdrawn and not herself, being unwell also causes her to go non-verbal. Obviously this was not her fault and it’s just the risk you take travelling with children (I mean even adults get sick on holiday sometimes!) but it meant our trip was not what we had planned and what with being suspected neurodivergent myself I really struggle sometimes with big changes and disappointment. I think what made it more hard is that a trip to somewhere like DLP costs us a lot of money so is not something we can repeat often and we couldn’t really enjoy it whilst worrying about our daughter and unable to just go home as we were abroad. It wasn’t all bad, she perked up about 4 hours before we were due to go home so we squeezed in 3 rides (thanks to the DLP Priority Pass) but yeah sadly no meeting characters, no wearing her princess dresses in front of the castle, no getting excited over Dream & Shine Brighter etc so that’s why I wasn’t feeling up to sharing anything for a while but we have had some really positive UK park visits with her since so I want to get back to it! #neurodivergentfamily #senparent #themeparkfamily #disneylandparis #dlp30 #travellingwithkids #disabledaccess #disneyfan #rollercoasterenthusiast #autistictoddler

We've had a great weekend away at Tasman Holiday Park at Serpentine Falls! We were really impressed with the facilities at the campsite: kitchen was well-stocked and looked after, toilet/shower blocks were clean and warm, and the pool was lots of (very cold) fun 🥰 Our only complaint was the noise from the main road, but it didn't bother us too much!
