I entered my “Tea Era” while in South Africa and fell in love with rooibos, an herbal tea common in the country. I drank it everywhere I went ☕️😆 To my surprise and delight, I happened across a @rockincatofficial tea stand while at the Forest Hills farmers market last week and saw that they had a tea with a rooibos base. Of course I snatched it up immediately and went home to try it out. Some of the food I ate while in London and South Africa 🇿🇦 1 & 2: Stupidly good Waffles from The Waffle House in Durban, South Africa (not to be confused with the American establishment bearing the same name 😆). 3. An onion and cheese pastry from a random cart in London- MY GOSH, food is just better in other countries. I’ve never had a pastry so flaky and delicious. 4. Ostrich steak! My friends made this South African delicacy for us and it was pretty good. It reminded me of lamb 🤔 5. Bunny Chow. It’s a meat and potato stew stuffed into a loaf of bread. Every South African I spoke to about this food loved it- I would compare it to Panera’s bread bowls, except the bread in South Africa is the best bread I’ve ever experienced 🤯💯 6. A proper South African breakfast. Fig & Ash in the Northside was a lovely choice for my mum’s birthday dinner 🥰 We both got their short rib meat loaf which is prepared with carrots, potatoes, and a delish cream sauce. For an appetizer, we ordered the cauliflower, which was surprisingly spicy yet pleasant. Just two Queens celebrating their birthdays (a day apart)! 👸🏽 On this day 2 years ago, I was at birthday dinner with two of my girlfriends. The couple next to us had the cutest little doodle pup that, after we kept pointing and saying how cute it was, they let us hold for a bit 🐾 We passed this adorable pup around the table. She was so sweet and calm. Karma was her name. Little did I know, on that exact day, my own little doodle girl was being born. Talk about meant to be 💫 Even though she gave me a corneal abrasion a month ago from pawing at my face in need of constant attention, chews and licks my clothes when I'm in the shower and burps in my face after eating, she's also insanely smart and sweet and don't know what I'd do without her 💜 Happy birthday Devereaux! Happy National Tooth Fairy Day! 👸🏽 Did you know that in some countries, instead of the tooth fairy, a mouse comes and takes the baby teeth away? In other countries, parents make a necklace out of all of the baby teeth from each kid and still in other countries they throw their baby teeth on the roof 🦷 There's a super cute book called Throw Your Tooth on the Roof that describes tooth traditions from around the world.
