REVIVAL ON CARSON 🏙️ I spent last weekend living like a Southsider when I stayed at @revivialoncarson apartment complex on East Carson street !! Boy have a MISSED Southside so this was the perfect staycation. Revival’s apartments are STUNNING & super conveniently located within walking distance of all the Southside fun. I visited tons of bars on Friday from divey favorites like Jack’s to the newly reopened @carsoncity1401 (one of my fave rooftops 🥹). I also dined at @nakama_pgh for din on Saturday & finished the weekend off with a rose cardamom chai at @delaniescoffee. If you ever thought to yourself, “this burger could use a grilled cheese,” “this grilled cheese could use a burger” or never thought any of those in your life but love GOUD cheesy food- this one is for you. The Texas toast (don’t know if that’s what it was but that’s what it felt like) was buttered to the gawds above. Ruggers knows the CTS (cheese to sando) ratio and went above and beyond the call of duty. The burg patty was flavorful itself and held its own up next to the overflowing cheese mountain that surrounded it. The fries were a perfectly salted addition to the sando. It was as mouthwateringly delicious as it looks and #GOUDapproved from all angles over here. Mondays are also taco night so you gotta pick up a few tacos 😌 🥪SIGNATURE! Life lately 👀: lots of green tea, good food (despite my neverending stomach issues), spending time with my loved ones, fun events, picking up my hobbies again, and wearing all my comfort jewelry. ✨🥺 It’s been a little bit of a slog to get through the everyday & unexpected stressors. Chin up though always— and I’m starting therapy with a new therapist in May. Last year I decided to prioritize my health, mental & physical, and I’m still seeing the impact of continuing to do so. My anxiety and lows still happen, but my ability to regulate has improved endlessly. 💕 For anyone else struggling to regulate— just know that it can get better! who would’ve thought these emojis would fit so well together @fet_fisk 🦪🍗🍸 dined last Monday at the restaurant that has been all the buzz lately, Fet-Fisk! I kicked off my meal with 2 of their PEI oysters (my fave oyster region), 2 of their Monday night special chicken wings topped with danish sea trout caviar & a dirty martini - WHAT. A. COMBO. The flavors were stellar. For my main I went with the clam linguine & @pointstatefork went with the steamed mussels & fries while we split the rye focaccia with dulse seaweed butter (a delicious surprise). No crumbs were left. The menu may seem daunting for those not too adventurous with their cuisine, but I promise this spot is worth stepping outside of your comfort zone. The vibes are unpretentious & super welcoming to all. We finished our experience by splitting a slice of chocolate mousse cake topped with lingonberries. Bread with labne, a generous drizzle of olive oil, and za'atar for dinner. My internship back in my school days led me to some interesting places/regions, and the Middle East was one of them. Being the introvert that I was, I lived off of this combo for my entire time there(since it was easy to buy at the grocers and required minimal interaction), except for times when my concerned elderly neighbor would leave me stews and some rice dish for me on the weekends. I’m not a slaw girl so I subbed for double fries - but the lovely people there give you so many options if you don’t want slaw (dub fries, extra Texas toast, or extra sauce) Idk what they put in their Texas toast, but those slices of toast hit every time. They are sweet and buttery. The chicken is always a favorite, never dry and always hot. Crinkle fries make life fun. Their special sauce is sooo yum. I started with the Nick of Thyme, which was strong in all the right places and tasty when the time came. I loved this cocktail honestly, some uniqueness but the nice quick buzz gin offers. We had the Pesto pizza and the Funghi pasta, and everything was amazing and delicious. Top notch pizza crust in a wood fired oven, with so much richness and flavor of the pine nuts in the pesto and flavor from the cured bacon. The Funghi pasta sure was fun as hell, so creamy and cheesy with perfectly cooked pasta and tender mushrooms. Also featuring one of the longest noodles I’ve ever seen. I wish we could have had two plates of the Funghi, I feel like we’d have eaten it. I'm so happy there's finally authentic Pinoy food here. 😭 I ordered lumpiang shanghai, dynamite cheese sticks, lechon kawali, chicken skewers, liempo, beef tapa, chicken inasal, buko pandan, and sago&gulaman. I knew it was legit when I had a spoonful of the buko pandan, and it had tiny bits of cheese in it. Hoagies from Primo's for dinner after an exhaustive yesterday. Took part in the S&R efforts for the dummy in the kayak. Apparently, a neighbor saw a capsized kayak in the river and called for help. So EMS and the fire dept from surrounding twps and boroughs came together along with residents to scour the river in search of the person. We had to rush because the water was rising and it was growing dark. The ending was anticlimactic, though. Someone up the road caught the guy crawling up from the river with his paddle and walking off on their Ring camera.
