✨Project Linus Update✨ We have accomplished our goal of collecting 250 yards of fleece to create no-sew, fleece blankets for Project Linus. Every (1) yard of fleece can make (2) NICU sized blankets. 👶Although Project Linus delivers to adults and children in need, we have chosen to focus on this tiny size because we have several NICU graduates who are Squeakers. We are so proud of them (and their parents) and thought of them while happily plugging away at this project. And Lexi, City Squeakers owner, is an infant loss Mom who used a Project Linus blanket for her son’s last moments. How did we do it? •20 yards were collected to launch the fundraiser at our local community center •A $500 donation was sent to the Project Linus headquarters in honor of City Squeakers and Lexi’s son and sent to our local chapter. The local chapter then purchased a huge haul of fleece for us. •13 yards of fleece and $50 cash for fleece was donated at the Family New Year Dance Party •City Squeakers purchased the remaining amount of fleece needed to hit 250 yards with profits from ticket sales at the Family New Year Party 🙏Thank you to all those who donated fleece, money or who came to the party to help make this happen. What’s Next? The wonderful ladies at the Greater Pittsburgh Project Linus Headquarters are going to take all of our fleece, cut and prep it for knot tying. They need about 6 weeks to do this. Blanket Assembly: Making the blankets is super easy and only involves tying knots. We will have two parties to make the blankets: 1️⃣ Kid, seniors and community members at the Morningside Healthy Active Living Center during a regularly scheduled City Squeakers Playgroup. Wednesday, February, 29th from 10am-11:30am. $15 per family. Regular playgroup activities to keep the kids entertained + coffee and donuts. We likely won’t make that many blankets at playgroup, so we’ll have a 2nd blanket making party… 2️⃣ At a date and time TBD, ADULTS ONLY evening with dinner, cash bar and lots of time to assemble and pack A TON of blankets. There will be tables of 8 as well as individual tickets for sale. Any adult is welcome. Please be on the lookout for announcements.
