I’m not one to brag or overstate the critical (perchance HISTORIC) importance of the observationally mundane details of life … but I had a “Gentleman’s Pool Night” with my step-daughter on Saturday. … it’s not like I HAVEN’T shot pool at all (I am undefeated against the brass-section of The Squirrel Nut Zippers) but my shot is not what it was pre-stroke. My left hand is just a touch less motionless than I would like … but it turns out I can still teach. You should have seen my girl go! (well, technically, @stacij_neal’s girl … but I’ve claimed her as my own on account of both her appreciation for #bourbon as well as #billiards). We played 9 Games. She won 5 of them (I mean I may have scratched on the 8 a couple of times) … but the important thing is - - - she is comfortable on a pool table - and she has a steady shot. She also has a velvet sledge-hammer break! …and I lost so frequently- she had plenty of opportunity to show it off. The only real things I taught her was to shoot more gently … “like a #butterfly’s wing on a #bunny’s whiskers”. … and that you have to invite #chaos into your game by trying any ridiculous combo that dares to emerge on the table. … in all fairness - my style of shooting isn’t for everyone. But I promise that a precise blend of a gentle stroke, a healthy disdain for basic #geometry, #jukebox money, quasi-polite Trash-Talking, and #Hubris can make all the difference. … I think I’ve helped let loose another generation of Unconventional #8Ball assassins.
