| A wonderful action/adventure film from beginning to end | I remember I was about ten years old when I first saw this film. I loved it then, just as I love it now! The Mummy is great action, adventure fun. The story, the writing, the acting, and the musical score are all fantastic. This was also the film where I developed my first celebrity crush. The wonderful, beautiful, and talented Rachel Weisz. She is just absolutely charming and brilliant in this film. It's hard not to fall for her! I knew going in this movie would undoubtedly hold up, but what truly surprised me was how well the cgi looked all these years later. Also, something I noticed on this watch that I never noticed on previous viewings was that this film carries a certain vintage quality to it. Perhaps it's because of how old it is or because I'm older or watching it in the cinema carries that magical quality. Whatever it was, it has made me love this film even more. I have seen this film well over a dozen times, but I must say watching it on the big screen was a treat. The only thing that would have been better was to have watched this on opening night. I could, without a doubt, give this film a full 10, but unfortunately, what does keep this slightly down is I felt the second act dragged on a little bit and felt a little long. But the first and third acts are phenomenal. Great world building, and great character set up. Irregardless The Mummy is fantastic and carries a great deal of nostalgia as it was one of other special movies that blossomed my passion for film. IMDb: 9/10 Letterboxd: 4/5 Watched in Theaters

★★★★★ Challengers (2024) Rated R Runtime: 2 hours and 11 mins Written by Justin Kuritzkes Directed by Luca Guadagnino Starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist trent reznor and atticus ross, that is all you need people. LOL. no, but seriously. the entire soundtrack was UNBELIEVABLE! i’m predicting an oscar nomination for best original score and possibly a win for their work in this one 👏🏼 @zendaya, josh o’connor and mike faist are all incredible and deliver some powerhouse performances led by the genius direction of luca guadagnino! @challengersmovie ended up being more than just your typical ‘sports’ or ‘tennis’ film. it’s so much more than that in the best way possible and is now one of my favorites for 2024! • • • #dosesofcinema #cinema #cinemalover #cinemalovers #cinematography #cinephile #cinephiles #cinephilecommunity #filmcommunity #filmreview #filmreviews #moviereview #moviereviews #moviereviewer #moviecritic #amctheaters #challengersmovie #zendaya #joshoconnor #mikefaist #lucaguadagnino #trentreznor #atticusross #amazonmgmstudios #movielovers #movierecommendation #filmlife #letterboxd

Contagion: 📀📀📀📀📀📀📀 (7/10 discs) The film is like the disease it shows, fast moving, shocking, and taking names. The first ten minutes shakes you to your core. A pre covid movie that makes you feel right back in the pandemic. ‘Contagion’ is slick, stylish, and at its core, shows we don’t have it all together in fiction that eerily matches some moment is fact that happened after the release of this movie. Obviously a slightly silly take but ironically this was ahead of its time in the guesses with internet and blogging that causes hysteria without facts. I can’t even begin to start listing the cast but it’s an understatement to say it’s loaded with people you know. Directed by Steven Soderberg and written by Scott Burns, this tandem made several films together in a short period of time. I think this one highlights both of their best attributes. Telling one story from multiple different prospective without losing its main idea. I’d say if you still have fear of Covid and the pandemic than this film will come off as a horror film, which is by no means a stretch or a bashing if that’s the case; more just a fair warning. . . . . . . #movies #letterboxd #film #reviews #cinema #cinephile #filmcommunity #physicalmedia #moviebuff #dvd #review #collection #bluraycollection #moviecollection #bluraycommunity #movienight #moviecollector #contagion #mattdamon #gwenythpaltrow #katewinslet #laurencefishbourne #stevensoderberg #judelaw #marioncotillard #johnhawkes #bryancranston #jenniferehle #demetrimartin

✧・゚¡Hola! ✧・゚: *✧ • • • • #cinema #movies #moviescenes #cine #letterboxd #studioghibli #howsmovingcastle

First and foremost, I have to applaud the brilliant direction from Luca Guadagnino, who has quickly become one of my favorite filmmakers working today. Even just beyond this film (although certainly in regard to, as well), Guadagnino has proven himself to be an unequivocal genius when it comes to crafting deep and complex characters, all the while simultaneously never feeling the need to state as such to the audience. Innermost convictions are presented through mitigated subtleties, rather than expository dialogue. Indistinct facial changes, quiet glances, subtle movements, even the way in which two people share a churro — Guadagnino demonstrates time after time again how the smallest details are often the most interesting forms of delivery when it comes to character development. In addition to impeccable direction, this film is likewise elevated by some of (if not, the) best performances of the entire year. Although everyone in here was truly remarkable and essentially perfect in their own right, my personal favorite was that of Josh O’Connor, who almost certainly would’ve garnered Oscar buzz had this kept its original Fall release date. As far as the script is concerned, this is probably my favorite of 2024 thus far. Although the story isn’t necessarily grand in its presentation, the thematic depth that its able to provide to such concepts as obsession, infatuation, passion, friendship, and love (both romantic and otherwise) felt like a much needed breath of fresh air. It’s the kind of narrative that seemingly demands multiple viewings just to fully grasp the full scope of everything it intends to say. It’s cinematic complexity masquerading as something simple in the absolute best way possible. In the end, I really enjoyed this film, and it’s only growing fonder with each passing day. The runtime did feel a bit bloated at times, but I could easily see this sole criticism vanishing with subsequent viewings. Overall, this is my new favorite movie of 2024, and I highly recommend that everyone check it out.

On the Waterfront screens at Depot 15 May, in a new 4k restoration Marlon Brando is the longshoreman who finds himself increasingly isolated when he challenges the might and power of the tough new York City dockers' Union. Rod Steiger is his elder brother, torn between loyalty to union and love of family. Lee J. Cobb is the powerful union boss, while Eva Marie Saint is the girl with whom Brando falls in love. Winner of 8 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Support Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay, this devastating film has, since its first screening, become one of the movie greats. ... REVIEW IN SHORT: Thematically spot on,this grimy pulpy 80's thriller is exactly what the title claims it to be, coming across like an early Coen crossed with Raymond Chandler, albeit with an LGBTQ spin. The Clint Mansell score is deep beating excellence and it's shot with flair and style. Loses a star for some strange and out-of-place choices in the last third, when keeping it simple would've been so much better. However, strongly recommended. #reviewinshort #shortfilmreview #nowwatching🎬 #nowplaying #movies #film #filmcommunity #moviereview #moviereviews #movietime #reviews #filmreview #filmreviews #filmcommunity #films #filmforever #cinema #cinephile #letterboxd #loveliesbleeding #a24

I, TONYA ⛸️ This was incredible. It managed to find real comedy without ever diluting or losing sight of the real tragedy that surrounded the whole ordeal. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a movie and rooted for someone so much as I did Tonya Harding - I was praying for the fairytale ending that she won Olympic Gold but then I remembered, real life isn’t a movie and these things don’t happen to people like Tonya. I couldn’t believe the politics that were involved in Figure Skating and the classism that was attached. Watching that final scene of her in court pleading to go to jail instead of having skating taken away from her was heartbreaking.  The film was honesty so good and the performances were incredible, Margot Robbie once again proved to me why she is one of the very best, this goes right up there with my favourite performances of hers, Sebastian Stan was fantastic as was the whole supporting cast but Allison Janney steals the show - I’m so glad she cleaned up awards season. Really enjoyed the mockumentary aspect that kept reminding me I was watching someone’s real life story that helped continue pull it back from being this outlandish farce. Although billed as a sports comedy mockumentary, the film had a lot more depth in it and actually gave a very honest view at a toxic relationship, domestic violence, the pain of never being seen as anything more than your upbringing, the struggles of poverty, the psychological abuse of a parent and the pressure to succeed amongst many other things. When she described each and everyone of the audience as her attackers you could feel the pain, when she went to the judges and pleaded with what more could she do, all these things helped remember sometimes you laughed until it hurt and these scenes reminded me there was a real pain at the core of this story. 8/10 @letterboxd - 🌟🌟🌟🌟 #itonya #tonyaharding #cinema #movies #filmreview #moviereview #odeon #netflix #letterboxd #academyawards

I’m not scared of normal spiders, but then again I don’t live somewhere like Australia that’s crawling with the ones that can kill you. What makes me anxious is when people who are scared of spiders freak out, start screaming and lose all control as my instinct says leave. It’s still definitely worth a watch but if you scared of spiders this will be way scarier. Kaleb is about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over an inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend. Fascinated by exotic animals, he finds a venomous spider in a shop and brings it back to his apartment. It only takes a moment for the spider to escape and reproduce, turning the whole building into a dreadful web trap. The only option for Kaleb and his friends is to find a way out and survive. #infestedmovie #shudder #2024horror #horrorthriller #hordesofhorror #horrormovies #horrormovie #150movies #moviereview #movies #horrorfan #horror #horrorfilm #letterboxd #horroraddict #movie #movieaddict #horrorbuff #filmreview #moviereviews #cinema #movielovers #movies #horrorfan #horrorjunkie #films #filmreview

According to The Wrap, Dwayne Johnson allegedly caused a $250 million budget crisis in his upcoming film “Red One”, due in part to Johnson’s unprofessionalism. According to the report, insiders close to the production claim that Johnson was regularly late to set, sometimes by as much as eight hours. The report alleges that this is nothing new for the actor, and that he has become notorious for extreme tardiness. In addition, the report claims that Red One has also suffered from mismanagement due to producer Hiram Garcia, who leads Johnson’s Seven Bucks production company. #movienews #filmnews #movie #movies #film #films #cinema #cinephile #cinephiles #cinephilecommunity #filmcommunity #letterboxd #filmdirector #dwaynejohnson #redone #therock

#A24 #loveliesbleeding #Chile #review #filmreview #katyobrian #kristenstewart #edharris #jenamalone #davefranco #cinetopiachile #cine #estreno #amormentirasysangre #letterboxd

MEN IN BLACK 2 🕶️ 🕶️ Just kind of clings onto the fact the original was really successful and bashes out a sequel, five years later, that feels like it was released the following year as a quick cash out attempt. I had to go check the release dates thinking they’d just rushed one to try make a quick buck.  The story is quite weak. My main problem is one of the same problems with the original in which I thought Agent J accepts the job and world far too quickly without any real persuasion and doesn’t have a real rookie story beyond a little mistake here and there. This does the same with Agent K and him returning, they rush managing to get him back that they miss having a good story with that. The villains aren’t that good. The story is quite weak. It’s almost follows the same formula as the first like for like without really developing at all. Glad to have seen Frank The Pug and The Worm Guys get more screen time as well as some good call-backs to the original film. Again, the two leads carry the film with their on-screen chemistry. 4.5/10 @letterboxd - 🌟🌟 #meninblack #meninblack2 #mib #cinema #movie #film #filmreview #moviereview #cineworld #netflix #odeon #letterboxd

It’s like reliving ‘The Wailing’ experience all over again, although ‘Exhuma’ turns out to be a bit more explicit in addressing the uncanny. Choi Min-sik is a veteran—nothing to say about him—but Kim Go-eun and Lee Do-hyun deliver performances of a lifetime. Despite the runtime being 134 minutes, there wasn’t a single moment when the plot seemed to lose its tense integrity. It’s absolutely a great treat for fans of ‘The Wailing’ and ‘Noroi’-type horror. At the same time, it delves deeper into the socio-historical fabric of Korea, a country where shamanism still remains prevalent, whether it’s the former president or the more recent controversy involving the HYBE CEO. It has remained a visceral part of the collective psyche—a psyche still haunted by the trauma of partition and Japanese imperial rule. ‘Exhuma’ skillfully balances these elements at both ends of the uncanny, forging a world that constantly oscillates between the real and unreal, myth and reality, ancient curses and modernity. It presents a world where the supernatural still lurks, doing so by creating an astounding ambiance that never ceases to surprise viewers. In terms of the macabre, grotesque, and occult, ‘Exhuma’ is once-in-a-decade cinema. - Exhuma (2024) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #japanesemovie #jmovie #japan #mubi #letterboxd #eastasiancinema #movies #movierecommendation #moviereview #movielover #cinephile #cinephilecommunity #film #filmfeed #romanticmovies #featurefilm #globalcinema #filmstagram #filmcommunity #moviescene #映画 #netflix #netflixandchill #netflixmovies #koreanmovie #koreanmovies #exhuma #choiminsik #kimgoeun #leedohyun
