Today is Day 70 of the @tiffanyjohnsoncreative #100daysartplay Challenge. This week is all about "Dollar Tree Finds" but as we don't have the Dollar Tree shop here in the UK, I am creating what I fancy instead. I used Prima Confections "Tropicals" water colour paints to create the background. Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink and "Morning Mist" grey ink to stamp the toadstools, insect and grasses, which are part of the Hobby Art Ltd "Garden of wonder CS227D" stamp set. Before I started today's challenge I thought I should double check the correct terminology so as I didn't mess up .. so this is my Native American 'TIPI' for today's #dailyartchallengebylou I'm not a fan of camping so I decided to go a different route. Tipis are conical shaped 'tents' supported by poles. I drew this out in pencil and fineliner and added colours with my @posca_uk pens 🌈 I thought watercolours would be a bit wishy washy. This is definitely a tipi and not a wigwam .. infact wigwam is considered a unfavourable term these days and native Americans prefer the term 'Wickiup'. Wickiups are more semi-permanent style lodgings made from bark, reeds, grass and animal hides. Wearable quilts made with #shrinkles This month's #Aurifilartisan challange is #memademay . To make something to wear. Of course I had big plans (I always do)! I cut up a quilt to make a kind of house coat but then life happened and I ran out of time 😂🤦🏻♀️(still need putting together) So a quick pivot and an 💡. I had been playing with shinkle plastic, making tiny quilt pictures inspired by my two favourite books, Unconventional and unexpected American quilts under the radar 1950 -2000 by @roderick752 and Amish Abstractions Quilts from the collection of Faith and Stephen Brown. So I found some kids jewellery fixings and some 12wt and floss @aurifilthread And made them into wearable art!! I thought just threading them was a bit plain so I tried finger knitting a cord, let's just say it's fiddly, but fun (Google it if you need to know how to do it). The best thing about finger knitting is you can customise the threads to perfectly match your pendant. I used my favourite thread colour #4020 and 2021 floss and 2692 #12wt.
