Jazz Scholars select combo played wonderfully for an audience of appreciative donors, parents, Ravinia Festival staff, Director of Reach and Teach Programs Christine Taylor Conda, and president Jeff Haydon. Our RJMP is free of charge all year and open to all CPS high school students to audition. We provide instruction 2x a week by 8 mentors including skills classes, studios and rehearsals. We have several big band and combo performances throughout the year. 【小澤征爾さんが60年前に指揮された場所だったのか…】 シカゴ交響楽団が夏に行う、ラヴィニア音楽祭 ２０２３年の８月、義母がシカゴに遊びに来た時に行ったときに聴きに行った なんと、６０年前にここで指揮をなさったのが小澤征爾さんだったとのこと そのことを知ったのは、小澤征爾さんがお亡くなりになったのち、義母から教えてもらった Wikipediaを見てみるとこのように書いてあった 1964年、シカゴ交響楽団（当時の指揮者はジャン・マルティノン）によるラヴィニア音楽祭の指揮者が急病により辞退。急遽、ニューヨークにいた小澤が開催数日前に招聘され音楽監督として音楽祭を成功に収め、小澤の名声は全米に知れ渡る。 今更であるが、小澤征爾さんに想いを馳せながら、去年の様子を投稿しようと思う 2023年8月20日(日) 指揮：ジョージ・ステルート 演奏：シカゴ交響楽団 この日の演目はすべてピョートル・イリイチ・チャイコフスキー ①ピアノ協奏曲第1番 ピアノ：ケヴィン・マーフィー ②オペラの曲が数曲 ③序曲『1812年』（本物の大砲付きの演奏） 前日に行くことを決めたため、入場券は買えたが オーケストラの近くの席はすべて売り切れて取れなかった 立ち見で遠くても音だけでも聞こうといったのだが 「今日は一曲目だけ聞いて帰るから、私たちの席どうぞ」と言って、老夫婦が私たちに２席、譲ってくださった 「やったー」と言って義母と私は夫を置いて中に入った😂 私にとっては、序曲『1812年』を生で聴けることがどれだけ楽しみだったか 楽譜に大砲を放つと記されているという、序曲『1812年』 いつかは聴いてみたいと思っていたが、まさか本物の大砲で、この曲が聴けるなんて なんてありがたい人生なんだと天に感謝したほど 大砲が放たれるのは会場の外 私と義母は中に入ってしまっている 当然音は聞こえるし、遠目からは見えるが 外にいる夫が上手に動画をとってくれていることを願って私は演奏を聴くことに集中していた 後で動画を見てみると え？ あまりの音に驚いて、録画停止を押してしまったらしい 文句を言いそうになったが、私は夫を置いていい席で聴いていたので、そんなこと言ったらダメだなと思い我慢した😂 この日、大砲のスイッチを押したのは、日本人の大学生の女性（一番右）だった 席を譲ってもらうラッキーもあり 聴きたかった曲を聴けて 日本人にも会えて 忘れがたき一生の思い出ができた 今になってこの日を振り返ってみて、ここで６０年前に小澤征爾さんが全米で名声を得るきっかけとなった公演があったのかと思うと 一生の思い出にもまた重みが増した 素晴らしい演目と演奏、感動と興奮で心がくちゃくちゃになったこの日のことを私は一生忘れないと思う ————————— @ykmtsmt123 アメリカ生活🇺🇸 @okuyadon 鉄道旅アカウント🚃 #Chicago #シカゴ #シカゴ郊外 #America #USA #アメリカ #アメリカ生活 #アメリカ在住 #アメリカ駐在 #アメリカ駐在妻 #駐在妻 #シカゴ交響楽団 #CSO #Chicagosymphonyorchestra #ラヴィニア音楽祭 #raviniafestival #Tchaikovsky #1812overture #チャイコフスキー #小澤征爾 #指揮者 ж жж #okuyadon #yolo #ファインダー越しの私の世界 #全ては心の決めたままに #旅行作家野田裕子 #旅の噺家

June 23rd 2023 recap part 1: saw Dashboard Confessional at Ravinia with my dad. I got the set list and guitar pics after. I hadn't seen Dashboard since 2014 they still sounded the same. I loved hearing stolen, vindicated, and hands-down would've loved to hear Swiss Army romance but beggars can't be choosers. 🎶

Ravinia is an amazing outdoor music venue in the Chicago suburbs. Every summer they bring in the best talent to perform. Some of the artists that have performed through the years are @johnlegend , Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, @train @carrieunderwood @ladygaga ,Tony Bennett, @dollyparton and @stevienicks - to name just a few. Great music, great venue. They have an amazing program called "Reach Teach Play" that ensures that music education is accessible for ALL. They serve over 75,000 community members every year with this program. Truly amazing!! They fund this program through ticket sales and donations but also merch sales. Every year they host a poster contest and proceeds from that poster help support the program. I was fortunate to be chosen as the winner in 2020 (and of course that was the one year since 1926 they didn't open their doors that summer 😭) and honorable mention in 2021. I haven't had a chance to re-enter in a few years as things have been very busy, but this was my submission for the 2024 season. I have some good news that I’ve been wanting to share for a while. I’m happy to share that I placed 3rd in the annual Ravinia poster contest for 2024! They had about 150 artists enter so I’m very honored that I placed. Ravinia is an amazing music venue in Highland Park Illinois that blends nature and music together. I always enjoy seeing concerts there while enjoying a picnic under the trees and stars. I wanted to capture that feeling in the poster I made. The woman with the flute is actually referencing both a statue in the park and an old poster from 1924. I wanted to make something with an “Art Nouveau” feeling kinda.
