First tastes of lamb today 😋 Cockapoos are renowned for being 'fussy eaters', but often I think it's just a fluctuating appetite. It can cause new owners no end of stress and worry when their little one refuses their food - even if it's something they loved yesterday! The puppies can be a little like that - some meals disappear in moments, some don't get finished, some are somewhere in between. Watching their interest in the first video I thought they weren't going to bother with this meal, but all 3 bowls were licked clean within about 10 minutes. Often the key is just to relax and ease the mealtime pressure. If we panic and swap foods every time a pup decides not to eat a meal, it'll never end! 🥩Today is the day I start the weaning process 🥩 Swipe through to see how it went! All our dogs here are fed a raw diet which fully meets their needs and gives them the best possible health. The puppies are 3 weeks old now and so I introduce a raw chicken and tripe complete mix at an 80-10-10% ratio of meat, bone and offal. At first, I use this big play tray (only for a few days). The first few days are about the puppies getting used to the texture and taste. It also mimics how they would be first fed in the wild, to encourage them to all get involved and for mum to thoroughly clean them down after, which also stimulates their digestion. This is so important with completely new foods. I put them under the heat lamp after feeding to help them maintain their body temperature whilst they digest their first proper meal. Sadie's Select was started out of a necessity for a clean quality food, for the pet parents who are looking for a product with zero synthetic supplements, no fillers, no grains, no legumes, no starchy vegetables, no BS. Our Foods always have been, and always will be Whole Foods. Rest assured our pack eats nothing but the Blends we make. My motto has always been "If Sadie can't eat it- we won't use it!" And for those who get to see us in person at the farmers markets, it's well known what a stickler I am for what Sadie gets to eat. The poor girl doesn't even get a single fry from @raisingcanes (the human sure does🤣) Sadie's first 9 months of life we're pretty rough. Her skin looked horrendous, she smelled like a corn chip factory, her skin was oily, she was beyond itchy, and her fur would quite literally stick in your hand if you pet her against the grain. We tried the cheapest foods, and we tried the most expensive and a bunch in between. Absolutely nothing helped- the only help Sadie's first veterinarian offered was pills or shots to "help" with the issues. To me that's just a Band-Aid and would never fix the root cause of the problem. We finally switched her to Raw at about 9 or 10 months old. Within a month all her issues slowly went away. This year in May 2024, Sadie will be turning a healthy 9 years old. She plays fetch whenever the ball is shown to her, she runs, walks, and is still extremely active. Nutrition has a key role in that. So if you ever wondered if Sadie's Select was just a company with a cartoon dog, no it is not.
