When someone tries to tell me that kibble is the ONLY thing dogs SHOULD eat. I am reminded of what brought me to fresh feeding in the first place. And this is no way to “kibble bash” —( using some high quality kibble has a place in so many dogs diets ) but it SHOULD NOT be the only thing you feed your dog. Purdue University did a study that showed adding 20% fresh food to your dogs diet slowed cancer cell growth 70-90%. The dog in the photo is Charlie-Mae my first who passed away in December 2020 from a rare nervous system cancer that inevitably took her leg. Prognosis on neurofibrosarcoma is pretty guarded and she lived nearly 12 months longer than expected. I am convinced if we had caught it sooner she would have lived longer. She is the reason I advocate for feeding fresh food in whatever capacity you can afford. She is the reason that Piper has been getting fresh food for nearly 4.5 years. Piper’s hereditary Mitral Valve Disease has been fully managed for 2.5 years with some condition reversal. I attribute that to fresh food. A fresh food diet is extremely customizable to your dogs specific needs and it puts you back in CONTROL of the controllable. Can I predict what health issues my dogs may face as they age? No. Can I control their diet and make it a part of the overall management plan we put together with our vet? YES. Every day I am reminded that there is always more that can be done & that opening yourself up to learning something new is possible. One easy way to feed fresh foods is to meal prep ahead of time, freeze in ice cube trays, and remove a cube per meal! For these cuties, they liked some of the organs, but not others. They also weren't sure about the veggies. Cooking these items lightly made them huge hits.
