I saw Theater Camp today at AMC Loews Rio 18. Miss when the theaters rooms had signs. It’s a mockumentary with the lives of staff at a theater camp. With Ben Platt and Noah Galvin. The only good thing to come out of Searchlight Pictures. I got previews of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem, Dreaming Wild, Ordinary Angels, Poor Things, Last Goal Wins and Strays. And no Oppenheimer previews. That one was good but the trailer was everywhere. This movie Theater Camp should be Oscar nominated for Best Cinematography, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Song for Camp Isn’t Home. And saw with a friend. Forgot to post this earlier but last week I saw this hidden gem from India called My Name Is Khan from Fox Searchlight Pictures and part of the Fox World Cinema Collection. It’s about an Indian born man from India who has autism or Asperger’s as known before then. The movie is set in the 2000s and made in 2010. Rizwan Khan immigrates to the United States for a better life and meets a beautiful Hindu woman named Mandira and her young son. They become the perfect family and had a great life until 9/11. Khan faces prejudice and Islamophobia as the days pass and so do millions of Muslims worldwide from then to today. Even in India and now in India the Islamophobia is getting worse. This movie does pay respects to both victims of 9/11 and of Islamophobia and shows that Muslims are not terrorists. It also shows the difficulties of those with autism. Even back then. Even in Khan’s childhood, shows the everyday challenges of autism in India. Came to this movie at the right time, and not just because of autism acceptance but because of the rising Islamophobia and hearing the Muslim hate crimes in India. Indian Muslims deserve better. Muslims eve deserve better. I should have seen this in theaters but I guess I had different tastes then. The movie is in Urdu, Hindi, and English. I miss this logo. This version used until 2019. Died at 25. Now it has a new name. Made a lot of great movies but with the new name very few great ones except Summer Of Soul. Had a lot of potential and I was hoping for it to make a lot of movies under this name. I was hoping that in 2013 it would have made a movie called Man Of The Year, which would be about a fictional ceremony called the Man Of The Year Awards and it would have a big cast, or a Rated G movie called Owen with Levi Miller as the title character as a new kid who is new to school and discovers he has magical powers. Or even a French language movie From Cameroon called A Day Without Morning. Only in my heart do these movies exist. Should have been made long ago. For day 7 I am doing the Oscar winning Music documentary Summer Of Soul. The only good movie under the new studio name Searchlight Pictures which was formerly Fox Searchlight Pictures. I wonder how it would have done under its original studio name. It’s great for families. It’s a documentary that has mostly archive footage of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival. Should have also been nominated for Best Picture. The music festival was shown until now. I don’t know why. There should be a narrative movie about it with actors and based on someone attending it or one of the performers.
