She is the Borough Councillor for Rusthall, an editor of two local magazines and organiser of Reclaim the Night walk campaigning for women's safety. I’m Jayne, and I moved to Tunbridge Wells sixteen years ago when I was seven months pregnant with my first child and didn’t know a soul. It’s been the best community to raise my children – the strong parent network here pretty much saved me and ultimately laid the foundation for what I do now, which is absolutely rooted in community. I’m the editor of two wonderfully hyper-local magazines, @rusthalllife and @langtonlife, and I adore being able to celebrate and support local businesses, events and groups – it’s the stuff that makes the community tick. With local writer @laurenkatebrook I co-founded @reclaimthenighttw to fight for an end to violence against women and girls. Last year I was elected as the Borough Councillor for Rusthall, and I was also asked to be in the Cabinet with the role of promoting climate action and sustainability, which I’m really passionate about – I never would have dreamed all this when I first moved here, and it really did all begin with going to a parent and toddler group, everything came from that! ✨Favourite local business and why absolutely love The Venture in Rusthall High Street – you can get everything there from plants for your garden, to a last-minute gift and card when you forget your child has been invited to a birthday party, to rawl plugs, sink unblocker, pans, fairy lights, washing lines; EVERYTHING! It’s heaven, trust me. If you don’t know Rusthall it’s an easy half hour walk across the Common from the centre of Tunbridge Wells or a ride on the 281 bus and it has cafes, bakery, playgrounds, woods, rocks…come on over!
