New Art!! ~~~ “Love and Death” is my first mixed media piece for 2024. It was created in honor of the new Nightshade program that was released this year that helps poison AI scraped images. The inclusion of Belladonna/Nightshade and red roses represent both my love of creating art, and how AI has tried to take that away from me. The original, which is no longer for sale, was created on mixed media paper using Micron pens, alcohol based markers (Ohuhu), and colored pencil (Prismacolor) over a wash of burnt umber acrylic paint. Prints are 8.5 x 11” and are printed on glossy paper. Prints will not have watermark, but will have a small white border around the edge for better framing. One down, one to go! I kept mulling over which moon to do for July, and I think the Mead Moon is perfect. July marks the time when harvesting when wild bee honey was ripe, and at its sweetest. Its typically tied to the custom of marrying in June, and the gift of mead to the newlyweds to last a whole month. All 12 of my main full moon paintings are complete! A peek at my piece for the Twitter Art Exhibit this year. I try to do a piece every year, because they do exhibits all around the world, and the proceeds go to a local charity in the area they are in. This year’s exhibit is going to be at The Pipe Shop in North Vancouver, BC. Canada, and the proceeds will go toward the Urban Native Youth Association. I consider spring to be an entire season themed around love and renewal. As we come out of the dark winter months, we are reminded that the cycle begins again.
