With “Monsters in Wilder Park” now on display, here’s the first of the 6 monsters - “Greg”, inspired by kid artist Cameron. ✨ - Cameron’s Story - “Greg the alien lion is brave and kind. He has a friend who helps him a lot because he’s clumsy. He likes to eat meat and goo.” - Cameron✏️ - It was really tough to choose out of over 300 submissions - but this wild-haired lion-looking monster with a red striped bird friend really stuck out as a character I wanted to tackle. In my interpretation, Greg’s unique parrot “Sam” has laid a new batch of eggs, and Greg is more than happy to help watch over them and keep them safe. ✨ - These monsters are digitally illustrated, printed, and applied to 6’ tall boards. Each monster has info next to it with the child’s description and I integrated each child’s sketch into the recreated artwork. ✨ - The Monsters in Wilder Park exhibit will be on display until July 31st. It's banner time again! For the #MinneapolisKS Art in the Park banner auction fundraiser this year I'm doing something a bit looser than I usually do, and going all for acrylics this time instead of oil. I usually involve natural elements, usually personified, but this year I'm going with some of the flowers that make high spring so lovely-- iris, phlox, cranesbill, magnolia. Maybe some more as the garden is packed this time of year! This'll be turned in in August and displayed along Minneapolis's main street leading up to the big event, this year combined with Rock the Park.
