Created in 1988, this man-made Blue Pond was dug to protect the residents from lava flows from nearby Mount Tokachi. This simple pond soon became a tourist attraction thanks to the highly saturated blue colour of its water, which seems almost unreal. These unusual colours are not exclusively due to the reflections of the sky on the surface of the water, but also to the aluminium and sulphur hydroxides which whiten the stones in the pond. Hokkaido Trip 5 Nov 2023 Shirogane Blue Pond and Shirahige Waterfall in Biei Was expecting the pond to be in a brighter blue than this. Not sure if it’s the time of the day that I was there that it didn’t seem as blue as the photos I’ve seen online. 美瑛的白金青い池 冬季點燈後的青池好美，拍到一半正好開始下雪❄️ 又更漂亮浪漫了😊 強烈建議冬天要來白金青池的話，一定要在傍晚點燈的時候來！比白天漂亮很多！雖然為了拍照跟錄影，手都快凍僵了，但還是不停的拍😂 看完覺得不虛此行🤗 雖然最後要在完全無路燈，超漆黑的路邊又非常寒冷的夜裡，等一個多小時的末班巴士才終於回到美瑛車站😂 #白金青い池 #青い池 #美瑛 #白金青池 #青池 #shiroganebluepond #biei
