🌅 With the longer daylight during summer, we booked the cheaper #weeknight passport to enter #tokyodisneysea after 5pm. This was totally unplanned as we weren’t sure what time we would make it to check-in. Day 1 Part 2: Nachi Falls When reading online that this was Japan’s largest vertical waterfall, we knew we had to go. After driving inland past farmers planting their rice fields, and curving our way up in elevation from the coast we reached the waterfall. Being that is was a Saturday we were pleased to find the location not too busy. Standing at 436 feet(133m) Nachi Falls was impressive. The coolest part was seeing the shrine & locals participating in a ceremony while being cleansed by the pure was from the falls. Arriving in Kumano, the rain began and we spent our Saturday night at an izakaya (japanese bar/restaurant) drinking & eating with the locals. The hospitality of Japanese people is phenomenal, with them even buying us a drink or appetizer. Visiting these small towns where many foreigners don’t go to has proven to be so much fun & the local people are interested in learning more about us.

Day 1 of our 8 day Japan roadtrip: We picked up our rental car around 8:30am near the Kansai airport in the small coastal town of Izumisano. After filling out the most Japanese rental car paperwork (see pic) I have ever seen we hit the road towards Hashiguiiwa Rocks on a two hour cruise down smooth highways. Once arriving in Kushimoto, we spent a few hours exploring the area visiting a lighthouse, overlooking coastal cliffs, and admiring the tuna fishing. We had to try the local tuna so we stumbled upon a small sushi shop where we had some of the freshest tuna i’ve ever eaten. After lunch we walked around the Hashiguiiwa Rocks which were 8-10 jagged diamond shaped rocks jettin out of the ocean. Locals on their Saturday motorcycle ride had stopped to take pictures & elder couples were taking in the sights from park benches. Off to Nachi Falls…

🅿️ On our way to #mitsuioutletpark #kisarazu we had to drive across the sea via the Tokyo Wan #aqualine #expressway . Right in the middle of the sea is #umihotaru - a parking rest stop surrounded by ocean with 360 views of Tokyo Bay. Upon approaching it, we didn’t think much of it and thought it was just a simple rest stop. Later on, we realised it’s a full service stop with F&B and other services. With my fave travel buddy for life💗 . The first stop on our Japan road trip was to visit Karuizawa and more specfically, Harunire Terrace. We spent >4h here and did the following: 1. Ring workshop: Recommend this if you’ve not done it before! The entire workshop takes between 45 mins to 1h and you can even make your own marriage rings here too. The shop name is called Glända. 2. Took a short stroll through a forested trail to the casual Japanese restaurant to eat some sukiyaki🙌 3. Grabbed some yummy soft serve from Harvest Nagai Farm. We tried the milk and roasted green tea flavours🍦 4. Cars of R's - Pt.4 - B-sides . Yes, I know it's been months since R's Meeting but I'm still gonna show more, deal with it😎 . The Nismo Omori CRS demo cars always draw a crowd for their completeness and perfection. It's great to see them out in the real world, up close and personal, instead of behind the glass of a workshop that's not open to mere mortals like me . What's odd to me is that I've seen other CRS builds with Z-Tune fenders on the 34 masked off before painting with a stencil in the shape of the Omori logo that when removed, exposes the carbon underneath but on this car they were stickers🤔 see slide 3 . On slide 9 you can see the carbon Z-Tune bumper was masked off on the Kusaka Engineering R34. If I were to do the same bumper some day, it would be cool to do something similar . I always like seeing the interpretations of other tuners though, aside from the OEM+ style that Omori is known for. You can definitely go crazier with your GT-R, and it's almost a neccesity these days in order to be unique and stand out from the crowd or separate yourself from all the other builds, as we're all starting to look the same now . But it would appear after seeing so many cars at R's that there are just that many purists among us enthusiasts that really prefer the cars the way they are overall. Deviating from the norms in big ways isn't all that common. Maybe that means Nissan was onto something with these cars from the factory? . 👇Let me know what you think in the comments👇 . 'til later✌️

Japan, Spring 2024 📍 Driving through Yamaguchi 🌸 Spot 3 of 9: Yamaguchi prefecture My favorite parts of our very short time in Yamaguchi: ① Motonosumi Inari Shrine (元乃隅神社). Seeing this was our main reason for going to Yamaguchi. This beautiful little shrine stands on the edge of the ocean. We also got some sakura soft-serve ice cream because it felt obligatory 🤷🏻♀️ (picture not shown because IG likes to mess up my post 😖) You might wonder if it’s worth the three-hour round trip from Shin-Yamaguchi station, and for me it was, because… ② …the actual drive through the Yamaguchi countryside was gorgeous! We briefly stopped at Nagato Yumoto Onsen to look at the sakura trees flanking the Otozure River. The area had actually reopened in the spring of 2020, which was very unfortunate timing for the tourism industry. But this seems like a great area for a quiet & relaxing overnight stay. ③ We rented a car only for the afternoon, and I drove us from Shin-Yamaguchi to Motonosumi Inari Shrine. It was my first time driving in Japan (if you don’t count Mario Karts in Tokyo 😂) and we only drove local roads. I never fully relaxed, but I feel accomplished having done it and more at ease with driving in Japan again someday. Least favorite part: ① Sadly, our lunch! We didn’t properly plan where to get food, thinking we would just pick up something near the Shinkansen station, but choices were slim. The place we tried was just okay. But I did get to try a regional dish called Kawara soba, which is pan-fried green tea soba noodles that you dip in a sauce. It was still tasty (but maybe there are better places 😅) Note to self for next time: ① Spend more time to visit other parts of Yamaguchi, like Hagi (thanks @islanderinjapan for the suggestion!) and to try some other local foods. ② Having a car was the best way to move through the prefecture because it’s so spread out. Over the span of six hours, I really felt that Yamaguchi had much to offer that we didn’t see.
