A HUGE well done to Kiddi Caru, Nursery and Preschool in Torquay for all their enthusiasm and willingness to learn MORE Sing and Sign songs and signs to add to their repetitore last Tuesday. Kiddi Caru Torquay completed their refresher Sing and Sign Affiliation Training with flying rainbow colours! 🌈 In a press release back in 2012, Kiddi Caru recognised that Sing and Sign had been proven to help parents and carers understand the needs, thoughts and ideas of their child. They also understood early on that using Sing and Sign in their nurseries reduced frustration for babies (and parents at home) as well as helping to enhance early vocabulary and speech development. Their affiliation with Sing and Sign demonstrates the nursery’s commitment to the development of its staff to ensure that children within their care are progressing through their learning journey. 849 staff at 19 nurseries received the refresher training. Kiddi Caru organisation has grown considerably since then too! Very exciting! Caron Moseley, marketing manager at Kiddi Caru said: “Sing and sign is primarily used with the babies in our nurseries but we know children of all age groups do enjoy this activity which is why we have taken the step of investing in refresher training for all of the staff across our 19 settings. “We have seen how quickly babies develop once they start taking part in the Sing and Sign sessions. Are you signing with your little one, but perhaps not quite sure if they understand you yet? Have you wondered how to know if your baby is beginning to understand your signs? 🤔 Well, the best way is to look at them. REALLY look at them. 👀 If you ask them “Would you like your MILK?” and use the baby sign for “milk”, then you need to pay really good attention to your baby’s reaction. Do they stop fussing and stare at you? Do they get excited and start kicking their feet? Or do they turn their face away or keep getting upset? Your baby can’t speak, they can’t nod their head, and while they still can’t use signs themselves, they will try and use their body language to respond to you. And you need to really look and listen to catch it 😉. That is why baby signing is also known to help create stronger bonds between parents and baby. Thank YOU for all the fun times! 🎶 This family brought so much joy and lots of smiles to classes over many terms 😍 A lasting memory will be playing peekaboo through the windows with me and her daddy as she left her last class of Sing and Sign! I will also remember how she welled up when we sang 'Lullaby' as daddy explained they sing the song at home at bedtime so Daisy thought she had to go to bed, even though it was only 10am in the morning!! 💜Thank you for all the Sing and Sign sessions- it has been a big part of his life so far and really helped him communicate. We were so pleased we started signing with him young (4.5 months!) and can't believe our Sing and Sign time is over now he's all but 2! He's amazing with his signing and beginning to speak too.
