Apen apen apen na. 🙈 En zien lezen doet lezen. 📖 2 uitspraken zo oud als de straat, maar gisteren nog maar eens bewezen in ons kleinste kamertje. Ik: “Ben je klaar Tjeu?” “Nee, nog een boekje lezen.” Hij springt van zijn toilettoren (want dat is het wel). Vervolgens strompelt hij met zijn broek op zijn enkels richting de stapel oude tijdschriften onder de lavabo en neemt er de Humo van enkele maanden geleden uit. Daarna hijst hij zich terug op het gemak. “Tjeu niet klaar. Nog een beetje boekje lezen.” , zegt hij met zijn gezichtje nog vol snot, soep en deugnieterij. En de nodige volwassen allures. Dat ook. Mijn moeder- en boekenhart maakt een sprongetje. Toegegeven. Het was meer show dan lezen, de Vlaamse literaire canon is nog lang niet in zicht en bij ons thuis komen Chase van Paw Patrol en de Teletubbies natuurlijk ook wel eens op de iPad piepen. Toch probeer ik de dag af en toe af te sluiten met een voorleesmomentje. En al zeker op deze @vlaanderenleestdag 📚 Want lezen is oh zo belangrijk. Dat is ook de reden waarom ik met Cabinet Content wil inzetten op #boekmarketing. 👓Lezen verruimt ons denken en wereldbeeld. 👓Lezen leert ons vertragen en beter concentreren. 👓Lezen start bij voorlezen. En dat lezen hoeft niet groots te zijn. Lezen start al in het kleinste kamertje door er gewoon wat boekjes neer te leggen. Want dat is de plaats waar we sowieso al (mijn man iets meer en langer dan ikzelf) een beetje vertragen. Start al in dat kleinste kamertje 🚽 en wie weet waar brengt het je. Meet Charla Patel, our Director of Human Resources and Administration. Charla joined the Christie Gardens team 22 years ago to manage human resources after working in a variety of administrative and finance roles in elder care and retail. Charla’s early experiences in elder care taught her the importance of community as it relates to staff retention and staff development. Today, Charla is our Director of Human Resources and holds a Certified Human Resources Leader designation from HRPA. As Director of Human Resources and Administration, Charla is responsible for labour relations, recruitment, health and safety, payroll, scheduling, performance management, and more. Charla is dedicated to promoting staff wellness and fostering an inclusive work environment. Een paar schoenen koop je toch ook niet twee maten te klein? 👠 Ik lieg. 1 keer heb ik het wel gedaan. Mijn maatje 39 ingeruild voor een (dacht ik) ruimvallende 38. Verblind door het rode bolletje met daarop -50%. Een batje, zoals we dat hier in Brugge zeggen. Eentje dat na 1 keer flink doorstappen in datzelfde Brugge terug mooi achteraan in mijn schoenenkast staat. Ongedragen. Nee, geef mij maar op of de juiste maat.   Net als een logo voor jouw bedrijf. Dat moet ook passen En precies juist aanvoelen. ❌Niet te groot(s) ❌Niet te klein ✅Comfortabel ✅Maar toch uniek   Net als een mooi paar schoenen waar je de hele avond mee kan blijven dansen. Niet zomaar een paar witte sneakers. En al zeker niet zo’n paar hakken dat je voor het dessertbuffet al moet gaan inruilen voor teenslippers die je (voor het geval dat) in je handtas hebt gepropt.   Naast een nieuw paar schoenen (no worries) Heb ik ook zo’n perfect passend logo gevonden bij @stugio Eentje dat volledig bij mij en de stijl van mijn Cabinet past. Eentje dat mijn Cabinet Content voorstelt als: 🔹Een Cabinet en vertrouwde plaats waar je terecht kan met jouw marketingkwaaltjes. 🔹Een Cabinet waar creatieve content centraal staat en waar al eens gelachen mag worden. 🔹Een Cabinet met behandelingen op maat met als doel: CONTENTE organisaties en klanten. 𝗕𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗷𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗷𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗷𝗲𝗯𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻? 🏊‍♀️ Het lijkt nog veraf, maar ik droom al van het eerste zwembadweer. Het water nog wat frisjes, de boord van het water bemand door twee soorten mensen. De ene springt er bommetjesgewijs in, zonder al te veel nadenken. De ander dipt zijn tenen eerder wat voorzichtig in het water, om de temperatuur op te meten. Er valt voor beide iets te zeggen. Alleen, het risico van dat pootjebaden is dat het altijd wel ✔te koud, ✔te nat, ✔te diep, lijkt waardoor je (eerlijk?) nooit zal springen. Mijn tenen zijn intussen al volledig verrimpeld, dus ik heb beslist om de sprong te wagen. Niet van de 10-meter hoge plank. Zo’n durfal ben ik nu ook nooit geweest en bovendien valt je bikini dan af. 👙 Geef mij maar die van 3 meter. Die is ook best wel hoog. Het perfecte bruggetje of springplank (je kiest zelf maar) om mijn droom na te jagen. 𝗜𝗸 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗷𝗸 𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 & 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝘆𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗶𝗷𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗽. Diese Woche fand in Berlin im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs Gesellschaft der Innovationen vom @bmbf.bund eine Netzwerkveranstaltung mit vielen teilnehmenden Teams statt.🥰 Aus den Gesprächen und Diskussionen in der Gruppe konnten wir super viel mitnehmen. Viele Projekte haben ähnliche Herausforderungen, Hürden, Erfolge und ein großes gemeinsames Ziel: die Zukunft und die Gesellschaft ein bisschen sozialer und besser zu machen. 3 Learnings: ✨ Austausch und gegenseitiger Support sind dabei sehr wertvoll. ✨ Zwischen Routineaufgaben und Tagesgeschäft muss immer wieder Zeit gefunden werden, auf Strategisches und langfristige Wirkung zu schauen. ✨ Ein offener Raum und eine vertraunsvolle Atmosphäre sind eine zentrale Voraussetzung für gelungenen Austausch und Kooperation. Für uns geht es jetzt an eine weitere Konzeptausarbeitung. Meet Cindy Flanagan, our Director of Sales and Marketing. Cindy has spent over a decade working with older adults and has been facilitating the leasing of suites and the buying and selling of life lease interests here at Christie Gardens since 2016. She came to Christie with a background in both Real Estate and Retirement Living. Before deciding to specialize in Senior housing, Cindy worked with several prominent condominium developers overseeing Sales and Marketing in the pre-construction phase. In even earlier days, Cindy was a television news reporter and documentary producer. After a secondment leading the Sales team at The Meadows of Aurora, Cindy returned full-time to Christie Gardens in August 2021 as Director of Sales and Marketing. Cindy continues to work towards keeping Christie Gardens traditions in place while eyeing the future. Zwei Studierende unterstützen hier den Schwimmunterricht der 5. Klassen. Vor allem bei vielen Nichtschwimmern im Jahrgang ist zusätzliches pädagogisches Personal sehr wertvoll. In kleineren Gruppen kann mehr auf die individuellen Bedürfnisse der Schüler*innen eingegangen werden. Los geht's! 🎉 Endlich können wir mit der ersten Schul-Kooperation starten. Wir freuen uns rießig, dass wir mit der Comenius-Schule in Flensburg gemeinsam in die Pilot-Phase starten. Von Februar bis Juli werden die 5. Klassen hier beim Schwimmunterricht von einer Studentin unterstützt und begleitet. So haben die Schwimmlehrkräfte der Schule eine weitere angehende pädagogische Fachkraft an ihrer Seite. Die Schüler*innen profitieren von einem besseren Betreuungsschlüssel und mehr Differenzierungsmöglichkeiten im Unterricht. Diese Woche durften wir im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs Gesellschaft der Innovationen vom BMBF an einem Workshop zu Projektmanagement und Strategieentwicklung teilnehmen. Dieser und weitere Workshops, sowie das Preisgeld, das wir letztes Jahr in diesem Wettbewerb gewonnen haben, helfen uns bei der gezielten Weiterentwicklung unseres Konzepts. Obwohl wir uns inzwischen gut organisieren können, Aufgaben sinnvoll untereinander aufteilen und in regelmäßigen Teamtreffen über zukünftige Projekte und Aufgaben sprechen, hat uns der Workshop viel gebracht. Wir haben dank einem Blick von außen, neue Ideen bekommen und andere Lösungsansätze für Herausforderungen gesehen. Meet our CFO, Ken Sweatman. Ken joined the Christie Gardens team in 2011 to oversee the management and redevelopment of our sister home, New Horizons Tower. He has overseen a total overhaul of both the team and the building at the corner of Bloor and Dufferin, which is now a vibrant home running at capacity. Part-way through his New Horizons assignment, Ken added oversight of the Finances at Christie Gardens to his portfolio, where he has assisted the team in bringing Christie to a new level of financial health and sustainability. Ken brings 40 years of business experience, having worked in retail, wholesale, manufacturing, and construction. Bei der Wassergewöhnung, bei Erlernen einer neuen Schwimmart, beim ersten Tauchen oder beim Schwimmen in offenen Gewässern - jedes mal gehören neue Erlebnisse, unbekannte Situationen, der Umgang mit Herausforderungen und im besten Fall ein Erfolgserlebnis am Ende dazu. Our building site has a rich and storied history, beginning in 1912 with the opening of a National Cash Register factory. In 1919 the factory was converted to become the Toronto Military Orthopedic Hospital with 875 beds for veterans returning from foreign wars. Known by patients as The Christie Street Hospital, it became known for its Limb Factory, providing free prosthetic limbs to veterans. In 1944, under pressure from families of veterans, the War Department closed Christie Street in favour of a new hospital that was to be purpose-built. In 1943 construction began on Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital, and in 1946 patients began to transfer from Christie Street to Sunnybrook. In 1948, with all patients having transferred to Sunnybrook, The Christie Street Veterans Hospital closed and an adjacent building was used as a seniors’ home called Lambert Lodge, named in honour of Lt. Col. Sidney E. Lambert SM OBE, who was a survivor of Vimy Ridge and later injured at Battle of the Somme in WWI. Padre Lambert had served as Chaplain for Christie Street and Sunnybrook and later went on to found what became the War Amps of Canada. In March 2020, Melanie assumed the position of Executive Director, providing leadership to the Directors team, as well as operational oversight. Melanie brings 30 years of administration, operations, and project management experience, working in both non-profit and corporate environments. As Executive Director, Melanie is deeply committed to supporting the organization's mission of empowering elders to live well. Die DLRG hat gemeinsam mit dem Bundesverband zur Förderung der Schwimmausbildung (BFS) Anfang des Jahres eine überarbeitete Version der Baderegeln veröffentlicht.
