Yesterday we welcomed our friends @nuneatonjaguars to our home in Rugby. We had an absolutely brilliant day of football. Our U11 flag teams went head to head in the toughest game that's happened in a ling time. End to end play with some stand out running and passing plays from both teams. It was an absolute joy to watch. Our U16s came together for a joint training session, running some drills with coaches from both teams. They then progressed to work on some O Vs D Situational simulations followed by a controlled scrimmage. It was a great session and we have taken away a lot of learning points ahead of our first tournament on 13th April. Huge thanks to the coaches, parents and players from both teams who made the day a great experience. Club President Ian said "it's been a fantastic, action packed day of football. Since the club was started in 2020 we have seen 7 players at Great Britian, 2 players selected to the NFL Academy, 6 players graduate to university and play football (Leeds Beckett, Oxford Brookes, Plymouth University & Nottingham University), and 3 players graduated out into playing adult football and 1 player has gone on to the NWFL within BAFA. 🏈🏈🏈 Not bad as we've only been around 3 seasons! The Rhino's are 100% about development of players and development of the game. Sometimes that means we have to encourage players to move out beyond our club. As hard as that is, we know it's what's best for the individual. Plus an additional 3 young adults working towards their level 1 qualification. This means we can break down into positional groups without needing players or inexperienced people to take the lead. We help and support our coaches to develop their skills. We encourage our coaches to attend online clinics and conventions. Our coaches have been coached by NCAA and NFL personnel. I have so much to be proud of this weekend! @rugby_rhinos_afc held a successful home tournament with 5 games across 3 age groups on 2 different sized pitches, in ridiculous heat. Our under 19s won their first ever game and head into next season strong! BUT......taking off my coaches hat and putting on my Dad hat I am so so proud of @lauren_95.7 who won Rookie of the year last night for her first season in NWFL football. On her 16th Birthday she immediately stepped up to playing mixed U19s football so she can also play for @falconswomen and she has had a brilliant season with an amazing team.
