在紐約，不單要把玻璃膠樽、鋁罐回收，更是要贖回押金，把責任回到生產者上。 紐約州的瓶子法案(bottle bill)是生產者延伸責任（EPR）政策下所產生， 每個瓶子法下包括的飲品容器，都在期售價上包含了5¢美元的押金。那就是香港人以前的按樽錢。 在紐約州的Bottle bill 下，生產商有責任回收回這些容器，退回押金5¢，然而紐約州的Bottle bill 和其他州份的bottle bill有所不同，那就是生產商除了要退回每容器5¢外，還要給社區的暫托回收公司每個容器多給3.5¢作處理費用，並有責任安排自己或委託第三方安排運輸到社區的回收公司取回自己公司的回收品。 所以這處的回收者在不同地方收回空樽後會運到回收公司按不同品牌飲品分類及點算數目並按指定數量包好。就是可樂的歸可樂，百事的歸百事。以Sure We Can回收場的政策，如回收者分好類交往回收場將每容器可多收1~2¢，即約6~7仙。 4O年前這法例產生下這3.5仙誘發了不少社區回收場，方便回收。然而因4O年法例沒有加過費用，又遇疫情，一半社區回收場也執笠了。 從這點看，在生產者延伸責任（EPR）政策下，這項瓶子法案使紐約獨立回收者和社區回收中心發揮了與香港的獨立回收者不同的角色。 紐約獨立回收者不僅扮演回收者的角色。此外，他們本應也是作為政府的合作夥伴，他們在實現/執行（EPR）政策的真正意義方面發揮著非常重要的作用。如果我們支持（EPR），那麼我們需要支援獨立回收者和社區回收場。否則，瓶裝法將僅停留在消費者責任身上。 那麽，若紐約市民不贖回押金而直接投入一般回收桶會是怎樣的呢？ 那些樽一樣可回收成物料，但是物流運輸將是Sanitation Dept 負責，即是由納粹人出錢。另外根據紐約bottle bill, 那些沒有贖回押金的容器，生產商衹須給還80%給政府作環保工作，意思是你若不redemp空樽，生產商就多賺2O%押金，慳了全部每個3.5¢的處理費，還有用納稅人的錢幫他運送回收品。 那麼生產者責任制就會完全失敗，社區的回收場也會消失。 感謝Sure We Can 的主持Ryan 及一直關注拾荒者(獨立回收者人類學 Christine Hegel 的講解。 我希望獨立回收者(不少華人)和一般紐約市民都能理解這制度，所以我嘗試畫下這草圖，希望出一點點力。(還有待改進!) #Artistascritizen #ACCFellow #leehysanfoundation #SureWeCan #christinehegel #日常考察筆記

Sure We Can 我今次去紐約的ACC Fellowship 是由利希慎基金會贊助，記得出發前有機會與基金會的負責人傾談，也了解了他們一點點運作，這基金會除了支持文化藝術，也關注基層扶貧。紐約就是有很多不同獨立於政府的私人基金會，推動不同基金會相信的價值，這是公民社會很重要的一部份。 我到紐約的考察，去的不是看大都會的景觀標誌，而是把時間放在廢物回收系統中的勞動者，例如考察紐約這唯一非牟利的回收場Sure We Can，唯一為拾荒者討尊嚴的回收場，把環保和勞工結合的想像，希望了解多些後回港也能與基金會分享看法。 每次自己走入去創造義工身份都感受了很多，但每次都一定全身雜果汽水味而走，所以今次穿上垃圾袋，拍了段自己分罐的片(快鏡)，就知一整天會多沉悶，不斷數巴巴巴。 今天他們有一班小孩來參觀，他們展示了最高科技的分類數罐機，就是可知道不同罐個數目，然後小孩子就試分罐，好cutie的小朋友。 終於等到汽水公司貨車來回收空罐，我負責幫手把一袋袋的空罐砌上貸櫃，足足填滿了大半隻櫃，做完我就散了。 紐約的膠樽和鋁罐玻璃樽都是包含了生產者責任制，發現很多與香港不同的運作，往後寫寫這處拾荒者面對的困難。 #ACCFellow #日常考察筆記 #SureWeCan #leehysanfoundation

數數數 今日再到Sure We Can 回收埸學師溝工友，資深的caner將不同牌子的罐分類，我依d就負責數罐數，細罐mini size要350一包，中罐240一包，長啤酒罐190一包，中膠樽144一包。 整天專心數數目，數時不敢傾計分心。比清潔工緊張，這處回收沒有清洗，所以有d混汽水味。夏天應好惡頂。 然而，因每包或盒有一定數量，砌好一袋或箱可高一兩仙，所以某牌子砌剩未夠數時，就會好似集郵咁，回收者和回收者換罐，成為社群中的默契，我幫你，你幫佢，我看見一個能說廣東話不能說英文的婆婆與一個說西班牙文的伯伯亙助，挺有趣的。 另外，我認識了一個做了十年的Melissa, 她說老闆對佢好好如朋友。佢個仔遊過香港，他也想去。 她有兩個數罐機，最高科技，有d回收場有可分牌子的機，但衹是某d牌子才用。 回收埸內看到不少罐儲了很久未有公司來回收，很是奇怪，下次找答案。 #ACCFellow #日常考察筆記 #SureWeCan
學師佬 在Sure We Can 回收場學習下怎做回收，所有樽罐要分牌子，因不同的公司衹收回自己的品牌，每一個大袋要放144個，所以工作就是邊分牌子，又邊入袋數啱數，足夠144個才能包好一袋，大牌子比較容易，細就難夠數。 我發現最多的是"Poland Spring"和"Pure Life",他們都是同一公司，所以可混在一袋。 然而有些公司最近改了政策，同一公司不同品牌也要分開，工友說把程序複雜多了，其實d鋁罐都是去熔，同一公司分品牌先熔是什麼玩法？ #ACCFellow #回收學習BB班 #SureWeCan
國際拾荒者日 今日國際拾荒者日，非年利回收場Sure We Can發佈了紐約市拾荒者研究調查，當中一研究者是Western Connecticut State University的人纇學教授Christine Hegel,當下推動環保可持續風氣下，不少學者(尤其是人類學)都關顧垃圾/回收業的勞動情況，各地的拾荒者組織正努力推動把拾荒者工作納入社會處理回收/廢物政策內。 讓他們被看見，在規劃中被保障及給予尊嚴的生活。(香港垃圾徵費正好是提出這些) 紐約市自1982年立法定下回收膠/玻璃撙，鋁罐統一5仙，四十年一直到現在沒改變，其他洲份已一早加至10仙(一毫)，Sure We Can 更要求政府立例更多有賞回收項目，希望改善拾荒者生活。 報告我還未細看，先分享一些圖表。 Sure We Can 是一中型回收場，2023年回收了超過一千二百萬個罐。 因發現了這些人類學家，開始對人類學的方法好奇，希望可再看多些。我覺得香港也須這樣的學者推動研究相關垃圾公義政策。 #ACCFellow #日常考察筆記 #SureWeCan 世界的拾荒者應有多些交流。

Yesterday, I joined the Honorable Minister of FCT His Excellency, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON at a stakeholders town hall meeting in Bwari. The meeting which was to condole the people of Bwari Area Council over the recent kidnapping and killing of the victim also centered on reassuring the people of the FCT on the Administration’s effort to combat insecurity and restore public confidence in the territory. The meeting drew participants from all sectors of the society including community chiefs and graded chiefs of the area council. The FCT Minister charged the local community leaders to be on the watch for intruders in their various communities and endeavor to supply timely and adequate intelligence to the security agencies as well as his office for urgent action. I enjoin the good people of the FCT to be security conscious and provide the necessary cooperation to the FCT Administration under the leadership of HE. Barr. We are talking being at the gym where there are bouncy castles and balls and trampolines while I'm surrounded by one hundred 8 year-olds, a coffee as soon as I get home from assisting E. all day is in order. 😱 Years ago when my friend H. had a little kid, she texted me out of nowhere: 'Respect! I now get it. I get why you were tired when Elle was born, when she was sick and you took care of her by yourself. I respect you. I now get it.' 🥰 I replied: 'I wasn't given a choice. I did what I had to do.' 🤷🏼♀️ She's a teacher. But she saw 'the light' back then and totally understood that, when it's your own kid and you're doing at by yourself, or most of it, it's really hard. 💁🏼♀️ Today... I voice messaged her: 'Oh my ****, remember when you texted me that you respect me? I spent all afternoon in a huge building surrounded with a crazy amount of kids, all dying to get on the bouncy castles and I was responsible for E. and she can't reach the top by herself because of her disability. And I had to pick her up several times and push her on the ladder, lift her to reach the top. I totally respect you.' 🫶 Being surrounded by 100 kids is hard. A coffee when I came home was what I needed and I deserved it more than I did this morning. 🤐 I also admire E. for not giving up, even though it was though getting on the ladder. Today I visited @surewecannyc with several @impact100nyc members and I am humbled and inspired by all we learned about the amazing canner community – the incredible people who collect cans and bottles from the streets to make a living 5 cents at a time. What you may not know is that these canners are indispensable to New York State’s environmental sustainability efforts and to the local economy. #grateful @surewecannyc is NYC's only nonprofit redemption center based in #brooklyn founded by #canners for #canners. The space is not only a recycling center, but also a community hub where people come together to connect, contribute, compost, and promote a circular economy. Die Thüringer Warte (Ludwigsstadt) Heute gibt's mal wieder herrliche Bilder von oben. Der Aufstieg war zwar ganz schön anstrengend aber es lohnt sich auf jeden Fall 🌞😍☀️☀️☀️!!! Die Thüringer Warte öffnet ab 01. April 2023! Hoch über Lauenstein steht auf dem Gipfel des 678 m hohen Ratzenberg, der Aussichtsturm "Thüringer Warte". Der 26,5 m hohe Turm steht kaum 200 m von der thüringisch-bayerischen Landesgrenze entfernt. Sie wurde durch ihre einmalige Lage unmittelbar an der ehemaligen Zonengrenze zum Fenster nach Thüringen. Weit hinein ins "Grüne Herz Deutschlands" reicht der Blick von der in 700 m Höhe gelegenen Aussichtsplattform. Ich habe schon oft das Schild gesehen aber nie wirklich Zeit gehabt mir das anzuschauen. Heute war es soweit und ich hatte einen Kunden in der Nähe der @frankenwald_chalets . Und ich bin echt begeistert du findest hier Ruhe, Natur und gemütliche Hütten zum Entspannen. Wie heißt es so schön "Platz ist in der kleinsten Hütte. Und das trifft's auf den Punkt. Alles drin was man braucht Bett, Dusche und WC Küche und TV . Und für die ganz verrückten sogar W-lan denn Netz gibt's keins .... Was auch mal nicht verkehrt ist. Kleiner Nachtrag . Die Teichmühle Steinwiesen im Rodachtal. Mit Sicherheit auch mal einen Ausflug wert! Und wieder was dazu gelernt wie viele Mühlen es in der Gegend gegeben haben muss damals.Diese Mühle wurde ausschließlich mit Wasserkraft betrieben und dadurch Holz gesägt . Die Gegend ist ja bekannt für die Flößerei ,was mich demnächst bestimmt auch noch mal beschäftigen wird. Ihr merkt ich plane nix sondern lasse die Momente bzw. Der Aussichtspunkt Pilz ist ein Aussichtspunkt in Nordhalben. Von dem Aussichtspunkt hast du einen großartigen Ausblick auf Nordhalben und die Umgebung. Im Sommer ist der Aussichtspunkt Pilz ein schönes Ausflugsziel für Familienausflüge, Wanderungen oder zum Picknicken und lockt an warmen und sonnigen Tagen viele Besucher aus der Region an. Der Aussichtspunkt Pilz ist außerdem perfekt für eine kleine Foto-Session geeignet. Last week, I had the opportunity to attend an event that two of my favorite companies put together, Rothy’s and Blueland! The event was mainly about how important it is to support new amendments made to NY’s famous bottle bill with support from organizations like Sure We Can and NYPIRG. Being on the Governors Plastic Advisory Council in NJ, I decided to check out the event to see how the bottle bill works for them!
