No thing is more comforting than a home made stew. Me being Hungarian 🇭🇺 obviously calls for our kind with nokedli. That detour to Rome was just amazing. No matter where you go, the food is great. I have ended up in this place called Enzo’s bar. Where in the entrance, behind the counter a true Italian Nonna was sitting. I was pointing to the focaccia sandwich I wanted, she put it in the sandwich press and made it incredible. Crunchy, soft and perfectly flavourful. While the sandwich was getting done I have paid and then just ate the thing. The transaction was smooth, the people and food is amazing. Rome you’re beautiful. Flashback to a few weeks ago in Hungary. We went out to eat with my parents, and we all went for a very typical and quite traditional dish. “Hagymas rostelyos” it js a sirloin steak marinated with mustard and pepper. Fried in a pan and topped with crunchy fried onions that were drenched in a little flour for extra crunch. Served with fries traditionally that are tossed with garlic. As I say in my bio. Flavours over glamour. Very traditional in Hungary to have this for brekkie. Classical “kifli” with “abált szalonna” and fresh peppers and tomatoes. Kifli is a bread roll that is very soft inside and have thin crunchy crust. Abált szalonna is the bacon from the chin of the pork slow cooked in salty garlicky water then massaged with fresh garlic and paprika. Culinary Prowler mode engaged. Traveling to countries that are not on the list of many and have food that many never tried is always a treat. Today’s lunch in a restaurant called Machakhela in Tbilisi. Incredible Georgian food. It is difficult to remember the name of the foods apart from the khachapuri that is a cheese filled bread shaped like a boat with soft egg on top and butter and khinkali that are delicious meat (our was lamb) filled dumplings with tasty juice inside.
