Wow !, what a stunning donation from Windram Art. “Kimberley moon” has been created by local artist Ingrid Windram. Now based in the South West, Artist Ingrid Windram, opened Windram Art Gallery soon after deciding to make Broome, Western Australia, her home in 1992. The Gallery proved to be a very popular destination for Locals, and Visitors alike, as it offered a wonderful selection of Original Paintings and Prints, which had been inspired by the inspirational Kimberley landscape. The Kimberley was a special place for Ivy and she would often hug those beautiful Boab’s which makes this donation even more special. We are so grateful. Dampier Peninsula 2.0 📍Cygnet Bay & Lombadina After doing a week on the Dampier earlier in August we decided to head back up for a few nights after a busy couple of weeks in Broome. Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm is a great base to explore the top section of the peninsula. The boys fished, we did a sunset cruise to a secret beach - a tiny little island in the middle of the ocean full of shells 🐚 & dinner at the restaurant was delish! We did a trip out to one of the local Aboriginal Communities; Lombadina. A neat little place with plenty of green grass, craft shop, bakery, school, medical centre & church. It’s the obligatory photo, but had to be done, because only in Broome… I’d heard lots of mixed things about this little coastal town, not a whole lot of positive. But I’m a fan. It’s seemingly going through a transition of sorts, stuck between its traditional state of sometime-tourist-hotspot-but-otherwise-sleepy-hamlet and a newer shinier version reaping the rewards from the surrounding primary industry and its role as a gateway to The Kimberley. Was a big day finishing off the Gibb, arriving in Derby… A quick dash down to Dimalurru/Tunnel Creek and some fun in the dark avoiding the crocs. Then out and along (the very relieving) sealed end of The Gibb to the Indian Ocean. What an adventure. Not nearly as detailed as we would have liked being the end of the season and lots of areas closed, but still a spell-binding first visit to this famed track. #thegibb #thekimberely #wa
