📸Tammar Wallaby Add this little one to the list of animals guests don’t know exist at DAK. And for pretty good reason: they are rarely, if ever, seen. 🦘Tammar wallabies are small macropods native to Southern & Western Australia. They are herbivorous and mostly known for feeding on shrubs and grasses. 🦘Tammar wallaby populations, like many other smaller mammals in Mainland Australia, have been decimated by introduced European cat and fox populations. Prior to European settlement, Australia had a limited land predator population: dingoes are pretty much it. (Honorable mention for the Thylacine whom was hunted to extinction by settlers 😭) Crocs are the main large predator but are, of course, not overly terrestrial.
