PARDOO 2024 RECAP!! “If you want to see something succeed, you have to commit to more than just one day” For the third year in a row, earlier in March I jumped in the car and made the annual trip to Pardoo station to assist with their AI program. Over 2 weeks we synchronised over 1100 Wagyu F1 heifers to be AI’d over 3 days. We tackled a few hurdles thrown our way (including Qantas strikes making us very nervous our AI techs wouldn’t arrive!) It was great to see a positive and eager team in the yards at Pardoo, along with great looking cattle. I’m excited to be returning to Pardoo in a few weeks to foetal age pregnancy test these heifers and find out our results. Don’t think I have ever had breakfast at a more scenic spot. We hired a bbq pontoon to explore Lake Argyle and cooked breakfast next to a waterfall. The scenery in this area is spectacular and the water in the lake was so warm. The Horizontal Falls are located in Talbot Bay, in the Kimberley's, Western Australia. One of Australia's natural wonders. Access is only via seaplane to a floating pontoon accommodation. The water levels rise and fall by 12m with the changing of the tide. It was amazing to see the immense force that make this the Horizontal Falls. UNSTOPPABLE! 🔥We’re excited to announce Pauline Sunfly is a finalist in the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize with a painting of her father’s Country, ‘Murunpa, South of Lake Mackay’ (swipe across to see the painting!) The painting shows two young initiates camped near a large sandhill. They are travelling about and learning of Men’s Law. This happened in the Tjukurrpa (creation time) and still goes on today. There are rocky out-crops surrounding that also hold signs of events that occured long ago. Pauline’s father was the chief custodian of these matters and maintained strong Law there throughout his time. MITCHELL FALLS 💦 We decided it might potentially be a once in a lifetime journey to take the big detour off the Gibb to the falls, so was it worth it? ⚠️ We had heard all the stories of how bad the road conditions and corrugations were and people breaking down so prepared for a long slow drive BUT we made the journey unscathed with only some sketchy sections! Arriving at camp for the night, we were the only ones there 😍 The next morning, even though we started the hike early, by the time we made the journey back it was reaching 40 degrees 🫠 **but we were there at the end of the season so the heat was intense 🔥 Was it worth it? ..We think so - that view is jaw-dropping!! 🤩 The waterfall is a spectacular 4 tiers and we got to experience it all to ourselves 🫶🏻 Would or have you made the detour to Mitchell Falls!?
