The Last Exhibition at the Arthouse hotel @arthousehotel Welcome to my exhibition which is also, sadly, the last one at this famous ex-art school My exhibition includes a series of portraits painted from life of local friends and people I met around Glebe including musicians and artists. I’ve also included some of my favourite paintings from the last year such as a Glebe street scape at dawn a painting of the iconic Badde Manors cafe, the Valhalla at sunset and two beautiful portraits. Prints of artworks available at $150 each. About the Arthouse: ‘Built as the library, hall and rooms in 1836 for the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts, and long a centre of cultural life in Sydney, the Arthouse Hotel was converted into a pub in the 1990s’ (The Dictionary of Sydney, 2021). 05.06.2022. I don’t understand this kind of nostalgic billboard-Ing that showcases what is being replaced. It’s like rubbing salt into a wound. The appartments are not too bad - better than the “heritage” travesties I see going up in Melbourne. But I don’t understand the intention of the billboards. I used to go to this cinema as often as possible in the mid 70s when it was The Valhalla. A different double bill classic every day.
