📅 Ein anstrengendes Jahr liegt hinter unseren Mantrackern. 💪 Nachdem wir vor genau einem Jahr von Susanne Williams die Basics des Mantrackings gelernt haben, gab es für unsere Mantracker keinen Zweifel: Sie mussten unbedingt weiter trainieren, um die Kunst des Fährtenlesens in der Such- und Rettungsarbeit weiter zu perfektionieren. 🚁 Unsere Mantracker übten daher wöchentlich mehrere Stunden bei Wind und Wetter, um die Basics zu festigen. 🌧️❄️ Anfang Oktober durften wir dann Kyt Lyn Walken als Ausbilderin bei uns begrüßen. Sie vertritt Hulls Trackingschool in Europa und ist eine sehr erfahrene und versierte Ausbilderin im Bereich des Mantrackings. 🌍📚 In dem von ihr durchgeführten Mantracking Kurs, der speziell auf Such- und Rettungseinheiten zugeschnitten war, konnten wir weitere wichtige Lektionen lernen. 🚶‍♂️🔍 Wir gratulieren den Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern Karina Nitz, Susanne Williams, Stefan Girreser und Tobias Weller zur erfolgreichen Teilnahme. 🥳👏 Besonders hat uns gefreut, dass wir unsere Mentorin und gute Freundin Susanne Williams erneut bei uns begrüßen durften. Sie war den weiten Weg aus dem Tölzer Land gereist, um ebenfalls am Lehrgang teilzunehmen, uns zu ermuntern und uns wichtige Informationen zur Interoperabilität von verschiedenen Einheiten und Organisationen zu vermitteln. Susanne Williams kann als Mantracking-Veteran ebenfalls auf umfangreiche Erfahrung und nachgewiesene Sucherfolge unter Einsatz von Mantracking zurückgreifen. 🤝👣 Bereits nach Ende des Lehrganges wurde ein erneuter Kurs für 2024 verabredet. 🗓️ Unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Interoperabilität waren unsere Mantracker sehr erfreut darüber, dass sie auch einen Kameraden aus den Reihen des Technischen Hilfswerkes als Teilnehmer am Lehrgang begrüßen konnten. 👥

Day 8 of 100: #100days10ksteps I had a lovely conversation over Zoom with a woman who spent 5 years walking around the world. I told her her journey was a big instigator for my commitment to walking every day... and a motivator to stick with it. I asked her which colors she associated with each country she walked through... and then about the colors she associated with the entire trip as a whole. She said, 16 years later she sees it as bright and colorful... but if I had asked her upon her return she said it probably would have more neutral or grey. Obviously a venture like that had its challenges and it was not an easy feat. Our conversation was FASCINATING and I can’t wait to turn her experience into an artistic world map. Also... Day 7 of 100: #100days10ksteps The snow melted just enough to get outside and go on the hiking trail behind my house - this time I did the whole thing - 7 miles! The views to the city of Denver and beyond are crystal clear these days. With all the traffic off the roads the smog has disappeared and it is gorgeous. I’m not sure why I’m feeling this deep rich purple color... to me it exudes confidence and calm and strength. That’s how I feel. I may be taking a break but I am getting more intimate with the ties between color and emotion than ever before. I’m studying for the time when I’m ready to create again. Day 2 of 100 : #100days10ksteps I’m still experiencing these moments of paralysis in the afternoon (read: zero motivation) so I read books in bed and nap a lot. Maybe it’s because my mornings are so full of energy (hence my choice of orange today). I wake up early - usually 4am - drink coffee, do a short meditation and journal for an hour or so. Then get out the door and go for a 4.5 mile hike. That’s a lot before 9am so I give myself permission to rest in the afternoon before spending my evenings with my family. I’d like to find moments of creativity throughout my day but it’s not happening yet. I think I need to start in tiny increments - just 15 minutes a day to start. Or... I picked up a book of Haikus by Richard Wright from our neighbor’s Free Little Library... a haiku seems like a delightful way to ease into creativity. At the moment I’m just happy is stopped drinking and I’m focusing on being healthy, mentally and physically. Creativity will come. Oops I did it again. This is my post for yesterday. I could feel guilty that I didn’t go for a hike because it was the most beautiful weather we’ve had all year. But... nope... I made a decision yesterday. I decided that I would stay in bed and finish the book I was reading, Maiden Voyage... about the youngest woman to sail around the world by herself. It took me all day, so yes, I was in bed all day, reading. And you know what, I accomplished something and it felt good. These Coronavirus mood swings are out of control. The last couple days have been hard and so I’m not going to beat myself up for not getting my steps in. I’m going to pat myself on the back for finishing a book and escaping into a story that made me realize this is a lot easier than sailing around the world alone! Day 5 : #100days10ksteps This color graphic is a really good representation of my moods throughout the day. It’s like an emotional roller coaster. I feel sunshiny bright in the morning and then suddenly something shifts and I feel like... well... poop. I am not usually a moody person but this stay at home business has me feeling very sensitive. One tiny thing can set me off or bring me way down. I think the best way to describe it is feeling ‘lost & found’... over and over again within just one day. In the afternoon I pour myself a drink and that’s my way of numbing, escaping from the constant ups and downs... relaxing, I guess. But I know it’s not the best solution, not a habit I want to continue indefinitely... I’m not ready to stop (yet). Meanwhile I am super proud of myself for finally committing to doing my 10k steps a day! I finished watching Tiger King on the treadmill yesterday. As the weather gets better I’ll start hiking more (with a scarf wrapped around my face, a pseudo face mask). These are crazy emotional times!
