If you wing it, chances are you're not gonna see the results you want. Of course you can follow a meal plan (same principle as tracking, just more rigid). Or go by appetite etc (estimate without tracking). But this requires some skills. In my opinion, you should spend lost of the year trying to build size. Then use mini-diets (minicuts) and/or a traditional cut (often in the spring) to tighten up a bit. Allowing for continued muscle building long-term. So this is simply your reminder to not fear the scale. Use it as a tool. See whether your weight is trending upwards in a build-phase and downward in a shred-phase. And stay objective. Hope that helps! With a calorie deficit and hard training to preserve muscle mass and increase strength. As well as plenty of sleep and some managing og appetite, moods, hunger et cetera. Ahmed did all this very well. When we started working together, he was a bit confused by the fitness industry. There were so many different pieces of advice and ways to do things. So we decided to team up and remove all the bullsh*t from the equation. Set up a good training-plan and a food-intake that made sense for his goals. And track it from week to week to ensure progress. When you do this and the habits start stacking up..... Insane results will follow. Also, if you don't feel a bit tired in your quads after a quad focused leg day for example, you probably aren't choosing exercises that are the best for your structure and YOUR quads. Not all exercises work the same for everybody, we all have different leverages / structures. I never got great quad stimulus from barbell back squats because my back and glutes would work most. So instead, I opt for hack squats, leg presses, smith machine squats and quad focused lunges. So. If you feel like a workout was somewhat "meh" when leaving the gym... Opt for things like β οΈ Decline crunches β οΈ Cable rope crunches β οΈ Smith machine crunches β οΈ Medicine ball crunches β οΈ Machine crunches Focus on the STRETCH on the way "back". And the SQUEEZE on the way "forward". Then consider holding the stretch and the squeeze for 1 sec. Great form. Pushing for progressive overload (adding weight/reps, like you would with other muscle groups.
