Fabulous barkcloth!! I’m so so happy with this one! A backpack/ shoulder bag/ handbag all in one! And how about the gorgeous barkcloth! So many possibilities with this! The barkcloth is amazing and in fabulous condition. The colors are bold and bright and it has that trademark barkcloth bumpy feel. I’ve added lots of interface to give it more structure and prevent it from loosing its shape. I’ve included an interior pocket (6x5) and a zippered pocket (7x7) on the backside. The sides include a magnetic closure to keep the sides together but are easily expanded to have a wider opening. The flap closes with a magnetic closure as well. Keep your contents secured. The straps are removable and can be attached to the top rings to use it as a shoulder bag. The straps are 26 inches. You can also use it has a handbag with the handle on the top. It is 12 inches. It’s a great size too! Height - 9 inches Width- 8 inches Depth fully opened - 6 inches Bottom depth- 9 inches It’s the perfect size for everyday. Purple and blue pop coloured floral in gorgeous 100% cotton barkcloth - original and genuine Vintage fabric from the 1960s. 124cm wide, sold by the metre. Usually I only have small pieces of vintage fabric but I have lots and lots of this style available thanks to Audrey in Lancashire. She took over her father’s upholstery business years ago. Was recently tidying up the stores and discovered bolts of vintage barkcloth in 3 different designs. Barkcloth works beautifully for dressmaking - check out @mavenpatterns Ludo cape and French Dart dress for ideas. And for soft furnishings such as cushion covers and curtains. Made in Hawaii label (Honolulu-based textile co.) 1960’s cotton barkcloth dress and matching shirt honeymoon set, both dress and shirt in mint condition. I’ve kept this in my collection forever because of this wonderfully different print with such great contrasting: The thick white block-printed stenciled floral pattern is atop a yellow and brown base with fine black stippling that creates a kind of animal print look, like an Aloha Tarzan & Jane! 🐆🐆 .. SHIRT: Notch collar, antiqued gold tone metal coin buttons; marked selvedge. Fits approx L as tagged; Measurements: 48” chest; 19” shoulders; 29” long from neck seam; 21” shoulder seam; 17” arm holes. .. DRESS: Box pleated waterfall style giving the dress a flattering aloha A-line cut. Nylon back zip. Fits approx Small-Medium Measurements: 35-36” darted chest; ~30” waist, 40” hip; 11.5” shoulder seam to empire waist seam; 30” around empire waist seam; 16” around shoulder opening; 53” long from shoulder seam; 1.25” hem allowance; 78” hem sweep. I steamed this set of storage creases for these photos, but it was deadstock condition-crisp.
