This garment owes its invention, allegedly, to Carlos Alfonso Mitjans y Fitz-James Stuart, Count of Teba. This Spanish nobleman, accomplished hunter and pigeon shooting world champion, designed this jacket as a practical piece of apparel for country sports; it became popular and would eventually be known as “teba” after the count’s title. Nowadays it has its place as a sports coat. Traditionally, the teba has four buttons, often of the “football” type, lapels without notches, square-cut skirt corners (the skirt having no slits), and shirt-style cuffs. The one I’m wearing is made out of Guncheck tweed by @curzonclassics . For a change, I eschewed shirt and tie and paired it, instead, with a burgundy turtleneck sweater, picking on one of the coat’s accents, and wool trousers. The hat is a vintage Dobbs. Shoes are suede brogues derbies, appropriate for the sports impression. Some time after Niwl and Pipper left us, the need arose to take in two sibling kittens who had appeared on the street. Despite the pain of loss, I put the need for the little strays to have a home above all else. So they both came home. After quarantine, medical care, tests and neutering, it was time to reunite them with Bakunin and Ernestina and, well, they were up for adoption but over the months and almost without realising it, we became a family. Of course, the new members of the family in no way replace those who have left us. This Christmas has been both joyful, with two unruly little ones playing with the decorations, and very sad because we have missed our girls so much. Niwl and Pipper will always be with us, but I think it’s time to properly introduce Myshkin (aka Chop-ito) and Nástenka (aka Chip-irón). Thanks to @lauracosucascantabria and Los Camaronicos who were the ones who rescued these two crazy cats and who do a wonderful job taking as many cats off the street as they can.
