We were honoured to meet @bohochicfiberco when we were over in Upstate New York last October especially as we had admired her work for some time. Once back home we followed up by email and offered yarn support for a garment design. And I finished it📯📯📯📯 I bought this yarn - Fleece Bluefaced Leicester by West Yorkshire Spinners @westyorkshirespinners - from @wee_county_yarns because of its color but then couldn't figure out what to make of it (for several years!). Some yarns look great in a hank or a skein but not so much when you start knitting with it. Now it became an Eva cardigan by @petiteknit, all 5 hanks of it, 100 g, 225m/246y each. Yes, I made it from the top and it is seamless... to a certain point. I wanted to try this construction with fully-fashioned shoulders top down. But after dividing for the body and sleeves I made changes. I added raglan increases - 1s twice, 2s, and 3s every other row knit back and forth (see last pics). Continued knitting all parts flat separately. Made 4 rows of stockinette after 2x2 ribbing and used I-cord finishing on the front parts. 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎 P.S. I did finish my #wheatfieldjumpermal sleeveless version! I had 1.5 skeins of one colour and a single lighter of the @lammermuirwool Shetland Harestanes DK and made the most of it - though lost at yarn chicken 🐔 on casting off the neck. No blocked yet as the weather is so damp here but very pleased with how it's turned out. To make it sleeveless I picked up one out of every 2 stitches around the armholes as I wanted it to pull in a bit. Sometimes I think I'm more inspired by the shades of undyed yarn. What we have here are four different colours, all undyed. The cream is self explanatory. Then two shades of grey achieved by blending my dark brown fleeces with some cream fleeces And lastly a really yummy brown spun from the brown/grey fleeces. Hurrah hurrah my annual spin of yarn was delivered this morning. The van arrived at 11:30 and I had a tour group at 12:00 with @patarchibald1 All we could do was off load the yarn and quickly fill the shelves to make ready for our visitors. had such a lovely time at #thewoollygoodgathering today!! it was so well organised and laid out, with diverse stalls and lots of options for food and drink, along with many more wellbeing-oriented activities! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, and a huge thank you and congrats to the whole woolly good team 🥰✨ my haul includes my kickstarter rewards, a beautiful wooden pin and some stitch markers, all of which are incredible quality, a tote bag made from end cuts of fabric rolls, a “knit your own” crab kit, a skein of the most delicious pure silk, and some wonderful lithuanian linen 🌱
Last night, I had great fun with other woolly friends at the Shetland Wool Week launch. This is where the new patron and their knitted hat pattern are announced. 🐏 I was super excited to see that the hat design features a ram's head. The designer, Anne Doull, wanted to honour our native Shetland sheep, without which there would be no Wool Week. Breaking with tradition, this year's patrons are a whole family, so you'll be seeing more of Anne and her parents, Addie and Margaret @doullislesburg over the next few months. 🧶Ronnie Eunson (he's the one in the photo ☺️) of @uradaleyarns was selling his gorgeous organic Shetland wool as a kit with the hat pattern at the launch event. I visited Ronnie at his organic croft a few weeks ago. I'll put a picture of his wool room in my story today so you can see the gorgeous array of colours he produces from his sheep. For the #IslesburghToorie (the name of this year's hat pattern), I couldn't resist Ronnie's kit with its beautiful natural colours. Although I was tempted by the other two kits offered by @jamiesonsofshetland and @thewoolbrokers 🤔 If I start knitting now, I might be finished by Wool Week in October!
