Today marks 7 days since we said our last goodbyes. 7 days since I woke up in the living room with you after dragging the spare mattress through the house so we could sleep next to each other in relative comfort. 7 days since I messaged my sister, and a couple of other close people, to say I was losing you 😭😭💔💔 I didn't realise it would be as quick as it was. Of course, at 16, I knew it was somewhere on the horizon, but you'd been so healthy. I thought we might have a few more nights on the floor, but by the time the kids came home from school it would have been cruel to make you wait even one more night 😭💔 And now, when I wake up tomorrow, it will be day 8 of not being near you. How rude the world is that it just keeps on keeping on, and we have to keep on keeping on with it, while we mourn your absence 😭💔🎃🐕 There was a time, before I'd learnt about emotional wellness and somatic work, before I'd processed my deep rooted pain from previous hurts, before I'd learnt how to allow myself to feel the depths of grief, that I thought these 8 days would have been filled with valium or some other sedative. There was a time where I thought feeling so deeply would destroy me, and the best thing to do would be to mask it. I'm not masking it. I'm not putting a band-aid on it to make it feel better at a surface level. Much like with Indy and with my Aunty (which is so very, very raw), I am letting myself feel it, be engulfed by it, and no doubt changed because of it. And it absolutely sucks. I want the world to stop and I want to do nothing but think of you and cry for you. And for 3 days I did. And the world kept going :/ I miss you. I will miss you for so very, very long. Soul Dog, you were one in a lifetime and I am so, so grateful it was my bed you chose to be born under. I am so, so grateful you made the trip here from Oman safely and that we got to spend 15 years being Australian together ❤️ I will be heartbroken for a long time...as well I should, because how could you love something that much and not be?
