My morning routine consists of me cleaning up and then feeding the dogs in my room. They used to be really excited as soon as they woke up and would drive my crazy. Now, they patiently wait and watch me clean before they get their breakfast. It is strangely easy. She traveled alllllll the way from Oman from Muscat Dog Adoption. Maxi was found barely surviving on the streets in Oman, wandering with a bad leg, massive infection and full of maggots due to a gunshot wound. Could you even imagine Maxi is what’s known as a “wadi dog”. We aren’t sure her breed, but know she’s 100% cute! Maxi is around 2 years young and 30 pounds. She gets along with more “submissive” dogs but no kitties please. She loooves to play, play, play & should have a fiery friend who feels the same. She has been in a foster home who has done an amazing job helping her blossom. She is a super duper cuddly lap dog. Maxi MUST have a securely fenced yard and an owner who is diligent about supervising her in the yard and using a front door barrier, as Maxi can try to be a little escape artist. My fools tend to be extra stupid when I'm around. They bark more, get into scraps and act like idiots, so I spend less time with them than I'd life, just to keep the peace. Today was my day off and I got to spend a decent amount of time with them. Which was great. I miss them. Having help is great, but it does take away from my time and I do miss it. It is work to look after the animals, but it's still not work because it is what I love to do. So much madness, and Sheme is getting too big! Also, the kids were back, they were watching my dogs. I went out to talk to them. We don't speak the same language but they were curious about my tattoos and I said kelb and sanoora to them, the little bit of Arabic I do know. Our dogs in boarding are out of food. We are drowning in bills again at the moment, we have to pay boarding fees on the 8th of April, vet bills need to be paid, the dogs all need to be dewormed in a couple of weeks. We still have to pay the vet for one of the dog's titre tests that he had done 2 weeks ago. We can buy a 10kg bag of pedigree for 13 omr from a supermarket. Please, please, please help us if you can. I do appreciate being back at home. Because I have Anne, my life is a lot easier, I can rush off to see the family knowing the monsters will be taken care of. And they were. The weather is changing and she's made some tweaks to the shifts, so the night shift hangs out for a while before dark too and I got a bit of time with them. Ghalia will be traveling soon which is great for her. Nick is a mini bully, can't cope with the others, but tries to be boss to the ones without the support. Frankie has her one favorite toy which she plays with. Tamera is a kisser and Scruffy is doing so well considering the bullet fragments in his head and his messed up hips. There's so much going on with each one of them and they're all still so wonderful and silly and happy and crazy. I had to take a trip to India for a family emergency. My mother, who has Alzheimers has some more issues that require her to restrict her movement for a while before she hopefully can walk/sit up again. It's been an emotionally trying time. We're still trying to cope with the new reality, but that's a bit more personal. When I arrived, I noticed that Maggie, who is now 14.5 years old, was breathing very heavily. I'm a pessimist who usually expects/prepares for the worst, so I thought her heart was failing. I took her to Cessna Lifeline (I'm so amazed by how advanced veterinary care is in India, i work at the vets and i feel like we're a decade behind!), and it turns out she's got very severe spondylitis. The glucosamine that I had got for her had not been given, Appa has too much to do already. I realize that I'm not great with emotional support and communication, but I'm a good worker, so I got this done. I took Maggie for her walks by herself, without Shopska, who still likes to run. The needs have done what they need to, and now Maggie is kind of back to her normal. She's become a sweet girl in her old age. She asked for me to love her in ways I've never been allowed to before. It was a 2 day weekend in Muscat after a while. I really like to eat but hate going out. I needed supplies, so I dragged myself out to the store, and based on what I managed to source, it looked like a #vegan (gouda topped) cheesy mushroom pasta was dinner. And it was good. I'm not good with the aesthetics, but the flavors are good enough. And I've been scrolling and going down a rabbit hole of classic movies, and I think a Mean Girls rewatch is warranted. I've recently moved into my own bedroom, no animals allowed. After my back issues, I realized that I needed to take care of myself. The dogs that used to need to snuggle with me aren't with me anymore. The ones left just want the comforts. So they've got their clicked l couches, and I've got my space, extra cushions, and reed diffusers and all. Balance. It's a lovely day in Muscat, so it was a good day to be off. I spent some time in the morning with the fools and they lived up to it. They're noisy and annoying and loving and wonderful.
